With the recent rise in gasoline prices (again).. I had a fellow co-worker comment on how she is finding it harder and harder to fill her gas tank. I find it hard to believe considering she makes a pretty penny, but who knows.
Are you finding it impossible to fill up?
My city has the (if not one of the) highest gasoline prices in the country. The price of premium, per gallon, is now around $3.97.

No. I just downsized to a more fuel efficient vehicle so I'll be alright to weather an increase in price. I'm looking at an increase from at least 5 mpg to possibly 10 mpg. That could mean cutting my gas bill in half. (going from 6-8 per month) fillups to 3-4 on a smaller tank.
Your coworker could have been paycheck to paycheck before gas prices went up. It all depends on how far your coworkers commute was and what kind of fuel efficiency she was getting. If you have a large pickup truck it will easily cost 100.00 to fill up once. Add in a longer commute and you are easily looking at 500-600 a month for gas.

Same here Tricia.. Gas is gas and not an optional thing for us to buy. We have to buy it regardless of the price.

I voted yes, but of course we have to drive the vehicles so we do what we have to do.
Hubby commutes 150 miles a day. He drives a Focus so it's pretty fuel efficient, but still. Gas is killing us financially.
I use about a half a tank (in my Taurus) a week so it's not as bad.

Bwahaha!!! What little gas I use is covered from the dividends I get from various energy companies. (So technically I live in the city and burn about 50 gallons of gas a year, but that's besides the point...)
Want a good hedge against high gas prices? Buy oil stocks.

I drive 35 miles each way to/from work.....I just paid $3.15/gallon yesterday. Ouch.
With NO options or opportunities for mass transit/car pooling, etc..etc.. (I live in Dallas, and work in Fort Worth....no one else here lives "over there")...at least not close enough to make it feasible....
And, it was $50 to fill up my car....that's $200 a month.
Yes...considerably more than I have spent in the past, but, still far down on my list of expenses.
The two big factors for the price increases....especially this latest "surge": Weaker U.S. dollar and the skyrocketing oil prices. Has gone from $100 to almost $110 in no time at all...

I've done the only thing I can do... increased our fees and reduced our coverage area. Instead of taking jobs 3 counties over, I'm calling appraisers in the area to refer or outsource the work. Thankfully, I'm busy enough at home to not hurt too bad giving up 1 or 2 jobs a month.

It is not impossible but sure doesn't help on the budget. I feel we are pretty fortunate because gas is still under $3.00 a gallon where we live. Well at least it was yesterday when I filled up. It was up to $2.99 the other day and when I filled up yesterday it was down (ha ha) to $2.97.

I don't worry about what I cannot afford. If it truly doesn't fit in my budget I believe that God has made another way for me to get what I need or where I need. However, I have usually found that proper prioritizing and budgeting have made such things as rising gas prices a non-problem for me. Yet, I realize this may not be the case for other people.
Again, don't worry about for worrying will not bring about any good thing. Instead begin to think about ways that you can take care of all your necessary and desired travel (car pooling, buses, van pools, friends, cheaper car, etc.). God will show you the way to overcome gas prices.

I pay $3.25 now. however, I usually have enough points at the grocery store to get about 10 cents a gallon off of that. I don't think I've actually paid 3.25 unless I was only putting in a few dollars till payday.
I fill my van every 2 weeks. At $3.15 last week it was almost $50. Never spent more than that though.

Gas crossed over the $3.00 mark a couple of days ago. It is now $3.07 in my area. I still haven't had to buy any at that price yet, and it has gone down a few cents because it was $3.09.

I voted no but that's because I have decided to stop making unnessary trips to town or just "go" somewhere when there is not a "real need" to do so.
I am planning my trips to town much more carefully. Our average per gallon is now $3.19 - at least that is what it was last Thurdsay when I went to town.
I try to fill up my car every two weeks.

It's a major metropolitan area, which brings the prices down a little - but the average is about $3.35 right now.
For the first time, ever, I couldn't fill up my tank for $30. It costs $36 I think.
My husband spends between $100-$200/month just commuting between work and home and storage unit. Saves a lot now, though, since he doesn't live here anymore.

Gas in my neck of the woods, (North Eastern Ohio), in any wear from $3.15 a gallon to $3.45 a gallon right now. I am on the road all day as I do Field Service work. My company gives us a gas allowance but it does not cover the new higher prices of gas. The rest comes out of my pocket.
It's really getting to expensive to work at this current job. The car allowance is also supposed to cover the cost of Repairs, and Insurance also. Ya, Right!!!!

We paid $3.01 yesterday and will probably continue to pay something similar. We have the lowest gas prices in the nation

Not yet, but I think it is coming quickly. I only have to drive two miles to work and back, so that helps. We live 45 minutes from a place to shop, so that can be a problem. I usually try not to go but about twice a month, but this month dur to various things, it has been a bit more. We just keep doing what we need to do. I use coupons when I shop and shop at second hand stores. Also, the grocery store where we shop offeres discounts on gas for evey $100 we spend on groceries.

Hubby said that he wanted to start a website asking everyone to stay home for one day...don't buy gas for one day. He thinks that would work to make "them" reduce the price per barrel, but I doubt it. I remember a Great American Gas Out one time...several years ago, and it did seem to make the price go down...but I don't remember if it had a lasting effect or not. Prices here range from $3.07 to $3.24...but the lower prices are far from us, so I'm not sure how much it would save considering the extra miles we'd put on... We are in SC.

So far we're living off hubby's take-home pay and even finding money to fully fund the (Canadian version of the) IRA, so we're doing fairly well.
