AMERICAN IDOL TOP 8 SINGIN SHOUT TO THE LORD - 4/10/2008 10:27:13 PM

on american idol tonite the top 8 performed, Hillsong's..."shout to the lord" which was awesome !!!! cause it was really a first for american idol to do that genre of music.
i guess the folks at american idol realizes that alot of their finalists are christians & have gone on to release christian albums like.....George Huff,Mandisa (which was nominated for gospel grammy this year),Carrie Underwood,Bo Bice,Phil Stacey,Taylor Hicks,Jordan Sparks.....the list goes on.
american idol has probaly now realized too that christian music is just as important as pop music.
when they were singin it tonite a couple of them were lifting their hands in praise like...Brook & David,but a few of them did look uncomfortable singin shout to the lord too.
just like 2 hear your thoughts on this.......................
also....the panel of 3...Randy/Paula & Simon have made their thoughts known in the past that they dont really like or care for christian music....

I think they were just giving a "shout out" to the religious community. No harm in that.
But of all the things to follow it with ...

I am certainly not going to knock the efforts of AI and the producers to use the "Shout to the Lord" song even if it was censored the first night and Jesus was taken out of it, it has ministered to alot of people who watch AI and I am pleased enough with that, and the song itself has a very Christian meaning. I am pleased, it is a start.

lets pray american idol focus's more on christian music etc....like they did with shout to the lord....
soxfan...are u sure theyre mormons...

Yes, David and Brooke are Mormons. Jason and the formerly booted Chikize I know are Christians. I believe Kristy may be as well.
I heard they redid it last night (was at church). Frank Pastore's talk show had a flood of people call into Fox and overloaded them with complaints of not using "Jesus". Heck, last week's Dolly Parton show was flooded with Jesus references...Jason and David A.'s picks and Dolly's "Jesus and Gravity" and the Clark Brothers' "This Little Light of Mine/Jesus is On the Mainline."

AI will not focus on Christian music in any meaningful way, simply because Christian music is not the mainstream, which AI is going after.
Not to mention, given Christian music's penchant for following secular trends as opposed to blazing it's own trail, I highly doubt that folks like Randy and Simon, who are always pushing for originality" would be in favor of using much Christian product....
