Today was the last straw!

Hi! I'm a long time visitor here. I am using a different screen name due to shame and embarrassment. I ask this here for experienced ministry and pastoral input.

This is about tithing and about how wimpy a man can become spiritually.

I was always a very strong believer in giving tithe. I got married and let my wife handle the checkbook and my excuse (still a good one) for letting her handle finances was to prevent major fights and upheaval over money by looking the other way. We have argued many times over tithing and suffice it to say our giving has been sporadic for the last 20 years. I just saw our giving record for the year from our church and it is pathetic.

I know better!

God has been dealing with me about this for a very long time and today I am making a change.

I will say that we are struggling financially... in other words we live month to month but I am determined to do something even if it means making an appointment with our pastor for counseling.

My question?

Should I pay tithes on my salary or our salary regardless of the arguments that will ensue?

I'm thinking of having our tithes drafted. Thoughts?
