quote:
Arguments were heard today in a federal district court case to determine whether a state university system can dictate that private Christian schools in the state teach their college prep courses from exclusively secular, Bible- and God-free textbooks. ... "Christian schools will have to decide: teach from a Christian worldview and eliminate your student's ability to attend a UC school, or teach from a secular worldview, so that the kids can enter the UC school system," he explained. ... In fact, an ACSI report said, UC officials confirmed "that if the Scripture verses that begin each chapter were removed the textbook would likely be approved …" http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=69997 http://www.creationwiki.org/Main_Page This is ridiculous. As long as the students are knowledgeable enough in relevant subjects, they should be allowed to enter the university system from a private Christian school even if the private Christian school also teaches them a Christian perspective in the process. quote:
"Here's the very university that talks about academic freedom," Carney said. "It's very discriminating. They don't rule against Muslim or Hindu or Jewish (themes) or so forth, only those with a definite Christian theme." Academic freedom? ROFLOL. Where is the academic freedom when the secular community dishonestly discriminates against anyone that disagrees with them?

ORIGINAL: WesP Well, they sure wouldn't appreciate the way my girls are homeschooled! Then they argue that Christianity and Creationism are somehow bad for science when people who are homeschooled consistently score higher on the same standardized exams. The secular community is so hypocritical.

ORIGINAL: WesP Exactly! My children fare much better than other traditional students. I am afraid that this situation will be repeated throughout the country with more frequency and more discrimination until Christian teachings are outlawed from academics completely. We must try harder to resist this nonsense and promote academic freedom and open inquiry.

Where is the academic freedom when the secular community dishonestly discriminates against anyone that disagrees with them? There's already a thread on this: http://forums.crosswalk.com/State_rejects_Christian_education_as_valid_for_university_admissions/m_3629570/mpage_1/tm.htm#3634054 As usual, WND mischaracterized the other side's position, left out details, and didn't include any rebutting quotes from those they were mischaracterizing. The books were rejected because they didn't meet minimum academic standards. If a Christian basis was the reason for their rejection, why were so many other books in the curriculum approved? -Dan.

Will students from muslim or jewish schools also be denied admission, as they most certainly DO teach religious traditions in their curricula. If not, then this is religious discrimination and illegal according to the constitution(both CA and US).
