Dr. Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda....Claims to be Christ on Earth.

He is older news but, haven't seen mention on the forum yet. I recently watched a tv special on another very similar story with a false Jesus out of Russia. Is this a new thing or have there always been crazy people out their claiming to be Christ?

Recognizing that the term "Christ" is the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew word "Mashiach" or "Messiah," sure, there have been NUMEROUS people who have claimed to be the Messiah predicted in prophecy for the Jews, especially during the Roman occupation. Both "Christ" coming from the Greek word "christos" meaning "rubbed, smeared, massaged, or anointed" and "Messiah" coming from the Hebrew word "mashiach" meaning the same thing are TITLES for the One Person selected by God to be Isra'el's last and eternal king! Furthermore, we learn from the various prophecies of Yesha`yahu (Isaiah), Yechezk'el (Ezekiel), Dani'el (Daniel) and Z'kharyahu (Zechariah) to name a few, that this last great King will be a King of kings or an Emperor of the world!
There have been many impostors that have attempted to persuade people to believe that they are the Messiah of prophecy. The ones that we have seen lately, such as David Koresh, Hari Krishna, Jim Jones, etc. are merely a handful of those who have attempted (and have succeeded to a few people) to be the Messiah for the Gentiles (non-Jews) who claim to be "Christian."
Did you know, though, that there have been MANY messiahs (MANY christs, by definition) down through Isra'el's history? And, they were LEGITIMATE messiahs! EACH one who was anointed by God for some service was a messiah! Thus, each priest, priests being anointed to their offices as priests, were technically "messiahs!" HaMelek Sha'ul (the king Saul) was a "messiah" because Daviyd (David) said that he would not "touch the LORD'S anointed (Hebrew: mashiach)!" Priests were anointed, kings were anointed, prophets were anointed, and there's evidence that even some judges were anointed! Each one of these people who were "anointed" were technically "messiahs!" They just weren't the ULTIMATE "Messiah" of prophecy.
As time goes on and the true Messiah Yeshua` from Natsaret in the Galiyl of northern Isra'el does not come back, yet, there will continue to be those who "think of themselves more highly than they ought."
