Bonjour~ I am planning on posting a weekly Bible Verse in this thread once a week (every week - Lord willing). However, there may be times when I may be unable to post weekly verses on certain weeks. For example, I will not be able to post weekly verses during the weeks of July 7 - 11 as well as the following week (July 16-20) of next month. Feel free to leave comments, make suggestions, or share a life experience (or something of that nature) relating to the scripture for that week. Also, if I happen to make an error in my Bible reference through unintentionally giving the wrong chapter or verse # with the passage (ex: Psalms 19:20 when the correct reference is Psalms 19:21) then please let me know by sending me a kind/polite PM. I hope that these Bible verses will be a blessing to those whom read this thread. Please stayed tuned for this week's Bible Verse~ Trinity_3persons ~ ~ T-3 ~ ~

For it has been by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from ourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works.... Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)

What a great verse to start off with! This verse points out that there are only two possible ways to be saved or to be in fellowship with God: one is saved either "by grace . . . through faith," or "as a result of works." In all other world religions, either because they lack a redeemer altogether or because the redeemer's work is inadequate, the emphasis is on salvation by works. Only in Christianity is Christ the sin-bearer who offers salvation "by grace . . . through faith."

I like the gift part. We earn rewards, but can't do a thing for a gift.

I would differ only in that salvation by grace through faith has been a common theme throughout the Scriptures. This is varified by the fact that Paul uses examples from the Tanach(old testiment) to make this point in Hebrews 11. Therefore, I would say, only in the Judeo/Christian tradition does one receive salvation by grace through faith in Ha Meshiach(The Messiah).

Thank you all for your comments: greatdivide46, Lapidoth, and Bluethread! =) Here's another verse with an addtional quote. Go ahead and post what you think about these, if you like. One's true worth can often be measured by the things pursued. - Anonymous For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Luke 12:34 (NIV)

To me Luke 12:34 means that whatever in life you emphasize the most, that's where you're going to spend most of your time. For example, if money is most important to you, you're going to spend most of your time earning money. If your relationship with God is most important you're going to spend most of your time nurturing that relationship. That's not all you'll do, of course, but all the rest of your life will be shaped by whatever you put the most emphasis on.

Luke 12:34 (NIV) Worth and treasure are tow different concepts. Treasure refers to those things which are in our custody and one's worth is one's value in the eyes of another. That over which we have custody possesses us more often than us possess it. If one has custody of an automobile one must take the time and expense to maintain, repair and store it when not in use. Since, what we spend our time doing has a great effect on our character. In fact, I believe, that is why Adonai is so interested in giving detailed instruction on how we should spend our time. There one can determine a lot about a person by watching which of his possession take up most of his time including how much value he adds to our lives. Therefore, we can tell if someone cares about us based on what he has in his custody. If he has things that make his life better, he loves himself. If he has things that make my life better, he loves me. If he has things that bring praise to Adonai, he loves Adonai.

Where in the world do you get the understanding that works saves from Eph 2:8-9? In fact it says that you are not saved by you works. Bob

But if what we have is Christ, He is sufficient for all---me, you, and Himself. He is the treasure that benefits all. Don't you agree?

I guess it's just how you look at it and people usually look at things differently.

If you commit whatever you do to the Lord, your plans will succeed. However, I don't think that means that everything you think will happen regarding your plans is actually going to happen. You will be a success in God's eyes, not necessarily the world's or even your own.

Hi everyone! I apologize for not posting this message sooner. Since I am on a big camping trip in West Texas with my family I will not be able to post a Bible verse for two weeks (this past week and next week). Once I get back home I will continue again with my posting of the weekly Bible verses. I apologize if this has been a inconvenience to anyone. Thank you and God Bless!

This means that we do nothing in return for the grace of salvation. Jesus died on the cross and that was the sacrifice and the works done through Jesus Christ. After that all we have to do is believe that he is the Christ and he died for all our sins. There is nothing more to do after that other then keep his commandments and sin no more. Which to some means works, It does not mean work at it, it means how you live and maintain your life, since after you receive the Grace of God your life will show through your actions and how you live Gods Grace. Basicaly works don't get you to Heaven, but your works show you are a believer in Christ.

Too often we do forget what He has done for us. Our righteousness is as filthy rags and we are a people of unclean lips and wicked hearts. If it weren't for grace I hate to think of where I'd be.
