You created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mothers womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfull made;
your works are wonderful.
I know that full well

Good Monday Morning Everyone

Hope you all had an enjoyable week-end. Our's was rather busy...makes the week-end fly by. But we got alot accomplished, so that's a good thing.
We had to move my two freezers to our kids houses, attend a birthday party and a baptism for our grandchildren, grocery shop, and go to my husbands nephew's house to look at some work he needs done on his home. Guess my husband and son are gonna do the work there. It's extra income. I have to start washing my neighbors walls this Friday. That will be extra income for me. Hey..gotta find work whereever we can.
Guess my husband is takeing a vaccation day this Wen. and he's gonna get our yard all fixed up. Has to get some dirt and fill in some holes. Then he needs grass seed. When we cut down them tree's we damaged some of the yard.

Barb, It does sound like you were busy this weekend. Thanks for starting the thread for us. Nice your husband is doing yard duties on his day off.

I cleaned this weekend. Lots of dusting and vacuuming. Got all the kids stuff out of the living room too. Hubby had a caniption fit when I dusted the T.V. area I musta got some wires loose because the color on the screen was all messed up. All I heard constantly was "that's not supposed to be pink, that's not supposed to be green, look at that, this color is messed up and on and on and on about the same thing until my oldest figured out how to fix it." I told hubby next time he does the dusting.

I got home from church on Sunday to a house full of grandkids and their mother and my hubby were in bed sleeping so they were running amok. Guess who got to watch them. I fixed tacos for lunch and at 1:00 crashed myself on the couch and then got reprimanded because hubby and daughter finally got up and I wasn't visiting with them. I made cookies for the neighbor and took them over and then went to my life support group at church from 6:00 till 7:00.

Sure needed the fellowship of that life group last night.

This morning I went to court for my court trial. A member at my church had contacted his lawyer and his lawyer per bono sent someone to ask for an extension which I got so I didn't get a judgement today; however, I called my lawyer for the bankruptcy after I got home to clear some things up and they said that contrary to what they originally told me I wouldn't have my case filed this Friday instead it won't be until the end of this month meanwhile I have another court trial next Monday and that one I thought would be taken care of so I have no representation for it and will probably be served with a judgement.

My lawyer's secretary said that will be no problem because it will be dismissed when the bankruptcy gets filed. May be no problem for her but for me it is an issue. I wanted to avoid a judgement.

Wish my hubby had paid these credit card bills while I was sick and couldn't work. I mean I did use them to pay for his expenses when he was fighting cancer. Instead since they were in my name he decided not to pay.

Oh well, God will take care of me.

Ginny

Ginny,
No..you did'ent "gripe" to much. You shared what was on your mind. Hope everything works out for you!
I think everyone is busy this Monday morning is all.

I am trying to get the bedding washed, and hung outside. Did mine yesterday..today it's Cody's bedding that is getting done. Tomorrow I will do Katie's. Nothing smells better than outdoor fresh bedding
Have the two grandchildren this afternoon. My daughter just dropped off Isabelle..so she can go to work. And my son dropped off Ethan this morning. His wife is still on bedrest. She goes in for her weekly check-up today. She is gonna ask if they can induce labor. I don't think they will..she still has a month to go.

Good morning (barely!) Barb & Ginny . . thanks for starting us off, Barb. I did come in here right after you started the thread, but was interrupted before I could post, and it's taken this long to get back.

Sounds like you both have a very busy weekend. Ours wasn't quite so busy, tho I did manage to get some things done, and Bill put up my light in the sewing room for me -- which is where I NEED to be, but Garrett has just laid down for his nap and is not asleep yet. And I am in sore need of a short nap myself, so will probably lie down for a bit until he goes to sleep, then start sewing.

Ginny, I know you must be getting frustrated with the whole court thing, but it does sound like it's working out. I hope the rest of it goes smoothly. Did you ever think about not going home after church . . . with a house full of kids, I'd be very tempted to find a nice quiet spot on someone else's sofa

Well, I'm off for that nap

Oh that sounds sooo good...a nap I have been sleeping pretty poorly since my mom passed away. Been wakeing up alot, and haveing nightmares most nights. Good thing a body does'ent remember the details of them nightmares
So the less I sleep during the day, the better I should sleep at night.

I do have the bedding hung outside. And am on my last load of laundry now. Now I have to make dessert. Just hate to start that mixer up while the kids are sleeping. We are haveing angel food cake, with strawberries over the top. Yummy. Supper tonight will be baked pork chops with hash browns and corn.

Good Monday afternoon!

No Ginny you are not griping. You are helping us know how to pray effectively for you. And you will be in my prayers!
I agree with Leah. Maybe on Sunday you could hang out with some of your church friends for awhile just to continue your day of rest for a little bit.

Barb my hubby is also taking the day off on Wed. but not to work around the house. It's his birthday so he wants the whole day to goof off. We are going out for dinner later that evening with DD and DS and their families and then to DD's house for cake and presents.

Sweet sleep Leah! zzzzzzzzzzz

We had a restful Shabbat (Saturday) and a busy Sunday. Our washer and dryer came on Sunday morn one hour earlier than scheduled. So Les was out in the garage rushing to get things ready for the exchange. Our washer and dryer are in our garage.
So then the rest of the day was running errands and shopping and then him coming home and putting stuff back in the garage.
Today I have been running the washer and dryer non stop catching up on Mt Laundry. Ahhhh it feels good. Before it took all day to do two loads. Now I am finishing up my 4th load and it only took 5 hours. How cool is that!
I still have blankets and some summer things to do but that is not necessity.

Tonight's fare is hot chicken rice casserole, artichokes and for dessert I got a sugar free lemon meringue pie at Walmart.

I love the smell of the outdoors on bedding but until someone have no idea who fixes the laundry line I won't have that.

Forget nightmares, I don't. I still remember the ones I had when I was bipolar and hadn't been diagnozed yet and wasn't on meds. Those were pretty bad.

Glad hubby got the light up for you Leah. I don't know about you but my eyes aren't what they used to be and I need all the light I can get to see.

Now who do you think would welcome me after church? Leah, want company?

I am still getting to know the people at church and haven't made any friends that go outside of the church but the life group I go to on Sunday nights is helping me to get to know some people.

It was a busy afternoon. I left a bit early so I could do the grocery shopping for the meeting we are having tomorrow. Refreshments are bought and ready to go to work. Now tomorrow I can concentrate on setting up the refreshment table. Did forget to bring the tablecloths home to iron so have decided I am taking my ironing board and iron to work with me in the morning and will do it there.

Hubby and youngest son are at the youngest son's baseball game. Made meatloaf, whipped ranch potatoes and corn for supper and fed myself and the oldest son. Plenty of meatloaf left for the rest of the family when they get home.

Tomorrow we will have salmon patties and probably macaroni and cheese. I took the frozen turkey out of the freezer to start dethawing. It will provide a lot of meat when I do cook it the end of this week.

Thanks Marsha for saying a prayer for me. There's a lot of details to remember to do for bankruptcy now a days. It doesn't help that I am having to deal with two credit cards taking me to court. Each one requires court dates. I hate using my vacation time to deal with this.

Ginny

Yes, Ginny, I sure would welcome you into my home after church -- or before, or during!

The hardest part of my mending/altering service is seeing the threads to pick out, so yeah, I truly needed that light. Now I've already picked out a black garment with it, which I could not begin to see last week without the light. It's going to make it so much better in there.

We had leftover roast for supper. I put the brothe in the skillet, added some corn starch & water, let it thicken a little; while that thickened, I sliced up the rest of the roast, then added it and the carrots & potatoes to the gravy & let it all simmer for abour an hour. It was so good! Even better than the first night. And we still have lots left over. It was a big roast, so I may wind up freezing the rest of it to have at a later time.

I love hanging the bedding out, but my lines are also down . . had to do that earlier for some reason, and have just never got them back up. Not had much decent weather for drying clothes anyway, so not in any hurry for them to be put back up.

OOPS!! I forgot to send this!! And now everyone is likely in bed . . well, except Dee -- where are you, btw, Dee??

Ha ha Leah! You make me smile. I am here.

I'm not sure why I haven't posted yet, except that is takes less energy to read and post in humor and games.

I was going to ask you a sewing question though Leah. My daughter bought some scrubs at a garage sale Friday. They are size medium. She needs more like a small. The last time she tried to alter scrubs the seams didn't want to lay down smooth; they looked puckered. Would trimming next to the stitching help that? Or are we doing something else wrong? These are just shirts by the way.

I'd really like to help her get this figured out, because as you know when you can alter your own clothes you just have a lot more options and it's much more economical than being stuck with what you can find that fits off the rack. If there's nothing that you can think of that we should try different we'll just go for it and hope for the best. They were cheap!

I love garage sales!

Hey there, Dee! Glad I brought you a smile so late at night

Yes, it probably would help if you trimmed next to the stitching. Also, if there are in curves, even gentle ones, snip the seam allowance nearly to the seam, just leaving a bare 1/16th of an inch. You will need to reinforce the seams before doing this, tho, just to make sure it doesn't ravel out. If these are the kind of scrubs I've made, the sleeve will actually be part of the garment -- no sleeve seam. If this is the case, the curve of the underarm will need to be snipped & trimmed very closely, otherwise it will pull on the rest of the seam, causing it to pucker.

OK Leah, I wondered about that. The shirt she sewed on she never liked anyway, so I'm not sure she still has it to try trimming. I think that these have set-in sleeves. I wish she would get into sewing scrubs. She actually made a shirt and some pants last summer/fall, but she doesn't wear either anymore. The pants were too tight. The shirt was a wrap style so it was a lot of work, but looked good. But it was too low in the front so she had to add something there. And then one of the ribbons she used for the tie-back came out. So she just gave up on it. I think she ended up liking her bought ones better. I think the style you are talking about would be a lot easier.

Would altering a scrub jacket be more trouble than it was worth? I guess we'll see how the shirts go first.

Thanks for the tips!

Oh well, the poor girl is busy enough without that yet.

Since I forgot earlier, hi all!

Dee, the scrub tops I made were very simple . . . the top itself was 2 pieces -- front & back. It had a wide band around the neck, that came into a V in front, and two pockets. Very simple and was also very simple to measure and alter. I'm slow when it comes to sewing and I could put this together in a couple of hours.

The wrap sounds cute, tho, and would probably be worth the extra effort. It should be able to be altered to a higher neckline with little effort.

Good Tues. Morning Everyone
All this talk about sewing make's me want to start my machine up again.
I do want to make a simple sundress for my two granddaughters this summer..mabey even one for Emma. Altho I'm not sure infants wear sundresses? Just have to find a simple pattern to start with.
I still have enough scrap fabric to make some more quilts also.
But I have my day planned already. Have to get into the attic and bring down my liveingroom screens. Suppose to get warm enough today to open some windows. Plus I want to bring down my deck chair cushions, and all the summer decorations.

Sure is chilly out this morning tho...only 38 degree's. Had to start the fireplace up even. But they promise 65 degree's today, and up to 70 degrees tomorrow!

Good morning, Barb. Yeah, it's cold here, also . . 35 -- we had frost on this morning. I covered my flowers again last night. Just don't want the delphiniums and the columbines, both of which I just planted last year, to get bit back right when they're getting a good start. And they are all up and looking great.

We are supposed to get up to 65 today and past 70 tomorrow, so that's good.

I tried to get some sewing done this morning before Garrett got here. I have my new shelves to put up in the sewing room, so I can start doing that later this week, then start moving my silk flowers to those shelves. Right now that all sounds much more ambitious than I feel

Barb, here is a pillow case dress pattern. I've never tried it though.

Leah, those scrubs do sound easy. I hope your ambition catches up with your plans.

I am trying to decide if I feel good enough to go to Bible study this morning. My stomach was bothering me in the night. I have to leave to take my oldest her purse at school, so I'll be out in a bit anyway. We shall see. It's kind of funny that my oldest is the one most likely to "need" me for something during the day while she's at school.

It's supposed to be 70F and windy today. I have a load of jeans in the laundry; should be a good day to hang them out.

Hi Marsha and Ginny, hopefully we'll see you here later today. Your post yesterday was just fine Ginny; it reminds me to pray.

Yay for getting laundry done Marsha!

Hi everyone,

No I didn't fall off the face of the earth today .
I am beginning preparation for Passover and that takes me away from my beloved computer. OH DREAD.

Today I was in persuit of large sheet cake pans. And they are hard to come by! Finally found a 1/2 sheet at a Walmart on the other side of town.
I am making two large Passover sponge cakes for our Seder dinner on Saturday evening. We will be serving around 200 so several of us gals are making the cakes. But I only had one - half sheet pan.
I've never made this cake before. It is from a single tube pan recipe and I need to double it and spread it on a sheet pan. That means 16 seperated eggs for yolks and whites. Also we don't use regular flour but instead potato starch and matzo cake meal so it doesn't have any leavening.
I consider myself a good cook, but not a baker. This will be fun.
By Friday I also need to clean out all of the leaven from the house. Nothing with yeast allowed. It's a good way each year to clean out the pantry and frig.

Marsha,
I thought Jesus died right after Passover. Why have we already had Easter if passover is still to be observed?

Leah, I hope that is an open invitation.

Really tired this morning yesterday was really tired too.

Good Wednesday morning to you, Barb! . . and you Ginny -- and everyone else who comes in later

Yes, Ginny, consider that an open invitation . . just call me first so I'll be here to visit with you -- tho you could come and take a nap on my sofa without me here -- Samson & Jasmine would keep you company

My sil & bil continue to need your prayers. They went this week for a consultation with the bone marrow transplant team. Seems they are wanting them to do that whole thing right away rather than harvesting his stem cells, and treating/freezing them for a later date -- something to do with what Medicare is willing to pay for. It's thrown them both for a loop -- I think simply bringing things closer to home for them in that they were looking at this particular treatment as a last stop measure AFTER he had enjoyed a few more good years on just the medications. Also, this whole process will make him very, very ill and probably require a long hospital stay. Again, with only Medicare and no supplemental (he forgot to sign up in December ), it will also get to be quite expensive. They've been blessed by getting on a 'free drug' program sponsored by the drug company for his most expensive meds. That's been very helpful.

I've been to the gym already this morning, and I'm so glad I went & got that out of the way right off the bat. Now I'm showered dressed, and enjoyign a cuppa McD's coffee -- love their coffee!! . . . Garrett is here, and has already played me a tune or two on the piano. Now he's watching The Backyardigans

Leah,
Prayers were sent up. Them poor folks.
Glad you got your work-out done.
I have Ethan here, and a little one and a half year old boy. That little tyke keeps me moveing. He's all over the house. I don't think he knows how to walk
Also have my husband home today. He is outside working on the yard. Filling in them hole's with dirt, and planting grass seed. He is real picky bout his yard.

Today it's three weeks since my mom passed. And you folks were right...the pain is still there, but not so intense anymore. I'm sure mothers day will be difficult for me..but I will fill my day with my family this year.

So what does everyone have planned for today? I think I will get my inside cleanning done, and spend the afternoon outside with my husband.
I have chicken out for supper. Gonna make a new recipe with it. Some sort of casserole. It's called Angle hair pasta with chicken. It's got carrots, broccoli, parmesan cheese, the pasta, and chicken. Hope it turns out alright and they like it. I always hate serving a new recipe for that reason

Thanks for the prayers, Barb . . they are much appreciated.

Yes, the pain does get less. Just know there are times when it will come back fierce and anew.

As soon as I can tear myself away from here I need to sew. Want to finish that one big order so the lady can pick it up this week. If I get it finished in time, I might even try to put up my new shelves in there so I can start moving my flowers. I'm not going to have Garrett Thursday or Friday, but I may have to make a trip to St Louis to pick up my flooring.
