I was reading the cloth diaper forum and began wondering just how many people used disposable and how many use cloth. Please answer the poll and then write why you do that certain one. If you use cloth then anwser what service you use.

At the moment I am using both - just bought the beginner stuff for cloth wipes yesterday (my son 15 mo.) so we are using both. I wash my own.

we use both...with four kids (soon to be five) our laundry gets backed up sometimes, and it may take me a while to get it back in line...so at those times we lean more on disposable so that it is easier to catch up on. We also use disposable at night (our kids tend to pee through cloth even with doublers, then they soak everything and need not only a diaper change but a whole bedding change). We use disposables when we leave the house also...mostly for convenience. When we lived in Germany we would not really leave the house for a few minutes, but it would be for hours or all day...mostly all day. We didn't have a vehicle, so anything we needed to do was extended time wise because of having to catch the bus, etc. I personally can't stand the smell of dirty diapers, and didn't want to carry around dirty cloth diapers until we got home...so we started doing disposables when we were out so they could be thrown away.

We really didn't use cloth diapers for our first two (now 8yo and 7yo)...I didn't see the really good kind until I was pregnant with #3 and then we got the ones we have. However with #1 and 2 we did use cloth wipes....mostly cause hubby and I are cheap and they can be washed and reused and more then pay for themselves. Also our second has major skin irritation issues, always has...and we found that she reacted to most store bought wipes. Our oldest had some problems in the potty training area, and he was 6yo before he was potty trained, so buying wipes that much would have been way more expensive then our budget could handle. With #3 and 4 (now 3yo and 22mo) we use cloth wipes if we are out of disposables or if we are using cloth diapers. I don't really want to have to wash a load of just wipes (and I can't bring myself to throw that into another load of just anything ...again, my aversions speaking here). So if we are cloth diapering then we use the cloth wipes, if not then we don't.

We don't use a diaper service...we just wash them ourselves in our washer.

I use disposables diapers for my kids and cloth wipes on the one that is prone to diaper rash.

I considered cloth diapers for my oldest who gets the rash, but we live in a 5-plex and share a 1 wash and 1 dryer with them. Before the new people moved in, I probably could have pulled it off pretty easily because no one hardly used the laundry facility. I would have worked out a schedule with my best friend who used to live here and my other friend who only does wash twice a month. But, I'm glad I didn't go for cloth because the new neighbors have like 10 people living in in one unit, so they constantly hog the laundry facility.

I used cloth and disposable diapers and only disposable wipes. I am not sure that is one of your choices but I chose number 3.

With number 1 I used cloth until I had to go to work too and then I switched to disposable.
#2: almost entirely cloth.
#3 I used cloth at home. However, when going out or to spend a day at someone's house i would use disposable. I had a big diaper bag but couldn't fit enough cloth diapers for a whole day in it.

I washed them myself.

use both. Cloth dipes and wipes at home, sposies if someone else will be changing them (ie. when they are in watchcare for bible study), or if I'm going to be out of town or something like that.
LOVE cloth. It's easier than you'd think, saves us a ton and cloth diapered butts are so darn cute!

I use both. Cloth at home, sposies at night and when we go out.

If I could afford the really high quality cloth dipes, I'd consider it full time. I don't mind the laundry. But I just have old fasioned flats and prefolds and "plastic pants"--they're not absorbent enough to last through the night. One thing that has made diapering soooo much eaiser is getting a Snappi. Much nicer than pins. And quicker.

With the first 3 we used cloth diapers and wipes whenever we were home and disposable diapers and wipes whenever we were out.

This time I'm just using disposables. 3 out of 4 ain't bad.

I've heard you can make your own baby wipes by cutting a roll of paper towel in half and putting it in a container (with a lid) and pouring some water over top of it. Would you put any type of soap at all in the water or just leave it plain? Has anybody done this? I would like the convenience of not having to stop by the bathroom to wet a wipe before a diaper change. Lazy I know!

Disposable diapers, cloth wipes. I really only use cloth wipes because DD's bum is a bit sensitive since she started teething. Until she was about 4 months old I used disposable wipes.

My SIl does the homemade wipes like that with the paper towel. I think she puts a little baby soap in it.

Since June Bug's not here yet, I'll respond with what we're planning to do

We're planning to use only cloth dipes and wipes and we will be washing them ourselves. We really don't go out all that much, so I'm not concerned about needing to carry around dirty dipes all day - I'm planning on buying a zippered wet-bag to take with me in the stroller or diaper bag.

Ha Ha!!! I voted disposable diapers and wipes. My SIL makes her own wipes and I didn't think they held up too well. They were a goopy mess to be honest!
