ACCORDING TO MATT 6:9 What is the benefit of starting your prayers by declaring God's greatness?

Benefit? You're doing God's Will. Our very purpose for creation is to bring Him glory. There needs not be an other "benefit." We are not trying to butter God up. He is not more or less likely to hear our prayers if we do or do not start like that.

The benefit is that we actually know God in a personal way that we can actually declare His greatness, because He is so worthy of it!!!!!Some do not declare His greatness because they do not know Him, it is our benefit to know Him.

He knows our hearts and our desires anyway, and has already provided for or planned for what we need. Starting a prayer by declaring the greatness of God just shows that we have faith in Him and want to be closer to Him, and desire His will to be done, even if it differs from our own desires.

You are doing what Jesus commands, as someone has already said. You are also starting your prayer off in faith. I just posted this on another thread - 'faith is the gaze of the soul towards/at God' (A. W. Tozer). We don't want to start our prayers with our focus on ourselves, it seems to me. God bless abundantly, Galadriel ....but now I just went back and read the other posts and I see someone has already quickly and observantly brought up the issue of faith
