Has anyone ever read the short story entitled "Of Daffodils and Diesels"? It's written from the perspective of a 14 year old boy in the 7th grade of public school. Well, I just typed it up over at my blog. If you'd like to stop by and read it, just click here. I highly recommend it for anyone with a teen-aged boy -- specifically those of us who have boys who are "text-book challenged". Light reading and light-hearted, but my 10 year old loves the story (I think he found a kindred spirit there!). Check it out!

Thank you for that, Rebecca. I just saw my 8 year old in that post. He will be coming back home soon (not sure if at Christmas break or at the end of the school year). He just does not fit in a traditional school setting, and because of that, he causes trouble. I can't wait to bring him back home and feed his love of learning again.

That's great. I loved the last sentence.

Boy, does that hit home. I can't tell you how many times I have wished that I had the nerve to quit school when I was 16 so I could get a REAL education. I have, only in the last few years or so, been able to come to terms with all the years that I wasted in high school.

LOL, my mom only had daughters, and yet, she always loved that story. I remember her reading it to us at the dinner table.
