I'm going to research this further, but I find it interesting. Also it should be noted that West Virginia's Democratic Senator Robert Byrd was a recruiter for the Klan. Interesting how ferociously the Democrats claim to be the all out champions for civil rights. Perhaps we should discuss this since hypocrisy in politics is something EVERYONE should be concerned about, no matter what side of the aisle you're on.

Today's Democrats still have their racial problems. They fight school vouchers and lock poor black children in the worst schools in the nation. They promote the murder of unborn black children in the US and abroad. Their half white Presidential nominee is plainly ignorant on race, claiming that his white grandma was unreasonably fearful of black men, and then saying that she was a "typical white person."

Have you noticed that Republicans either resign their offices or are asked to resign by the party (Tom Delay)? The Democrats, however, rush to defend them: Bill Clinton (everybody lies about sex), Robert Byrd (using the "n" word on television), etc. The media carries the water for the Dems, too, by demonizing Republican offenders (Sen. Craig's mens' room episode) but minimizing or ignoring altogether those of Democrats. Definitely a double standard!

There is an extreme double standard. It's like watching a bunch of children in 3rd grade. Ever notice the really spoiled rotten kids that never learned to lose? The ones constantly changing the rules of the game to come out the winner? That's the Democrat party; children who are utterly spoiled and cannot stand the thought of being wrong about anything. They would rather die than admit they are wrong about anything...or have to take responsibility for a mistake.
The racist roots of the party are hugely significant, since they bang the drum of civil rights so much. It's either a guilt issue, or they are just manipulating racial groups to maintain power. Probably the latter. I wish people in the African American community would snap out of it and realize that they are being used by these people.

You nailed it! Problem is, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, to name just two, make their living convincing the African American community that Dems are good, Republicans are evil.

Threads like this seems so very pointless. There are bad people on either side of the aisle. There is just as much corruption on both sides. I'm not much for trying to point to the shortcomings or personal failings of the personalities on the left, and would much rather spend my time criticizing their ideas and ideology. I have many left-wing friends, and without exception they are fine citizens, however I still wouldn't want their policy stands or ideas anywhere near public policy.
