I'm not sure if this is the right part of the forum to ask, but. Would anyone happen to know of any scripture or verses in the Bible that deals with loneliness and / or depression, or at least somewhat addresses it? I'm no Biblical expert in any way, and have no idea where to start.

David wrote about his depression several times in the book of Psalms, Jinjoe. It's a good idea just to start at Psalm 1 and read through the whole book. Look for the pattern: 1) I'm depressed 2) I remember what God has done 3) God is going to do great things and He loves me. I will rejoice. We can do likewise as a choice of our will. We know God has promised us many things, so it's good to dig them out of the Bible, thank Him for them, and think about God loving us enough to die in our place. Everything else gets small by comparison. Depression usually comes from loss. Be of good cheer and buck up your heart: God will not let you lose anything that He won't replace with something better. Look at David's life: he was a competent man who loved God (it was mutual!) and spent a good deal of his life running from people who were literally trying to kill him. Several times King Saul and the entire Israeli army were chasing him around the desert. One of his sons molested one of his daughters, one of his sons killed his brother, and that one tried to become king by deceit. David fled Jerusalem for the wilderness before his son could come kill him, and then the army killed that son. What a mess! He sinned with Bathsheba and Uriah and God promised that the sword would never leave his family (family members would be murdered). And even as a kid when the prophet came to his house for dinner (to pick one for king) David was the only one not there - as the youngest he had to watch the sheep! And yet his responses were such that God said David was a man after His own heart. We can follow in his footsteps of crying out, knowing what God has done and rejoicing in what He said He will do. We choose to not be depressed. I am praying for you tonight. I know from personal experience how hard this can be. Choose to rejoice. And go get some exercise - it's a natural mood lifter. God made your body that way. God bless you.

David often opens a Pslam alone, in fear, in hopelessness, and by the end of it is rejoicing and praising the Lord. For myself nothing lifts my spirits like praising the Lord, in my heart and in song. (Except maybe a big thunder or snow storm, and that in trun always brings on praises.) This song came to mind as I read your post. "Lord, lift me up and let me stand, by faith, on heaven's tableland, A higher plane than I have found; Lord, plant my feet on higher ground." Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Your not alone. Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. 2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

10 "Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Isaiah 41 17 "Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls-- 18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. 19 The Lord God F10 is my strength; He will make my feet like deer's feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills." -Habakkuk 3 Once, when I was very depressed and I read Psalm 6, I thought it was the most legitimate description of depression that I'd ever read: 6 "I am weary with my groaning; All night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. 7 My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies. 8 Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; For the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping. 9 The Lord has heard my supplication; The Lord will receive my prayer. " -Psalm 6 "As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? 3 My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me, "Where is your God?" 4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go with the multitude; I went with them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast. 5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance." - Psalm 42 I pray the Lord will comfort and uplift you, Jinjoe, in your time of sorrow and sadness, He has done it for me and He's done it for most of us here more times than can be counted. Trust Him...nothing about your circumstances or current depression changes His great love for you.

At their wit’s end, then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out (Ps. 107:27-28). [origin = by: Antoinette Wilson, found in Streams in the Desert~1, May 23/ pp.166-167] \/ Are you standing at "Wit’s End Corner," Christian, with troubled brow? Are you thinking of what is before you, And all you are bearing now? Does all the world seem against you, And you in the battle alone? Remember---at "Wit’s End Corner" Is often where God’s power is shown to abound. Are you standing at "Wit’s End Corner," Blinded with wearying pain, Feeling you cannot endure it, You cannot bear the strain, Bruised through the constant suffering, Dizzy, and dazed, and numb? Remember---at "Wit’s End Corner" Is where Jesus loves to come. ... Remember---at "Wit’s End Corner" The Burden-bearer stands with open hands. Are you standing at "Wit’s End Corner," Then you’re just in the very spot To learn the wondrous resources Of Him who faileth not: No doubt to a brighter pathway Your footsteps will soon be moved, ... At "Wit’s End Corner" Is the God... "WHO IS ABLE to do exceedingly, abundantly, immeasurably more than all that we ask, think, or imagine".

SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL Verse 1 Something beautiful, Something good, All my confusion He understood. All I had to offer Him was loneliness and strife. But He made something beautiful of my life.

It would seem that Christ took care of that problem; (Luk 4:18) The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, (Luk 4:19) To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Deliverance of the captives.. Set at liberty them that are bruised. Heal the brokenhearted. Looks like those that are true Believers are delivered from depression and a host of other problems. Thanks RC

It is hard to nail down just one verse or just a few. I know that depression led me to the Word of God before I was saved, and the message in it's entirety uplifted my heart. I really had to hit bottom before I gave God a chance. Song of praise are also good ways to be lifted up, because music is an expression of the soul. It can move your heart. Some of the main causes of depression is living without hope, or in fear or anxiety about something. Mostly has to do with hope, at least my depression was. Verses that helped me through was the book of John, especially John 14 - 17. Another section that reassures me is the first 10 verses in Joshua, which I use as a guide sometimes to get my life back on course. Of course, everyone has already mentioned the Psalms, so I won't rehash on those. "Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
