How many of us prayed that the Lord would weaken the last hurricane, Gustav? To protect the people from the storm?

He did! It came in much weaker and did far less damage than they thought it would.

But how many of us reminbered to tell Him thank You? How many of us reminbered to give Him the praise and the glory? How often in our lifes do we fail to see what the Lord has done for us, and even if we do, forget to thank Him?

Edited for spelling.

I had prayed for the folks in the Gulf Coast states a few nights ago. Our sister company is in Jacksonville Florida.
**I didn't say Thank you to God. I will do that.

I think I said "thank you" as one of those popcorn prayers . . . I'm fairly certain.
thanks for the reminder, tho... now my sister-in-law lives in Corpus Christi--right in the path of hurricane Ike!!!
We need to pray about that!

This is a very important reminder, ss. I have developed a habit of saying thank you all day long to the Lord. I don't even have to verbalize my prayer since He knows my thoughts. But when my prayer is answered, I do say 'thank you, Lord'. It can be as simple as finding something I'm looking for or not cutting myself when the knife slips, etc. But I want to remain God conscious and remember it is His care for me. So I'll say THANK YOU, LORD for ALL the ways you care for us! Help us be MORE aware and MORE thankful!

I am not sure we can ever say thank you enough....and I am not sure that is how God wants us to thank Him.

I think He wants us to love like He does and to be like His Son. That...is the best way to thank God.

I prayed that Gustav would hit south florida instead of going into the gulf and strengthen. New Orleans didn;t need another hurricane and after Wilma we bought a generator and haven't used it since.

I figured....better to hit us and not do much damage than to hit the gulf again and just blow them away.

Amen

SonInMe1, I agree that God wants us to love others and be like His Son. And it sounds like that was just what you were doing in praying for the storm to hit you in order to save others in a more vulnerable area. Based on my understanding, He also wants us to praise Him and thank Him, not only with our lips, but with our hearts.

Well, in I Thess 5, we are told to rejoice ALWAYS, pray WITHOUT CEASING, and IN EVERYTHING give thanks, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. This must be the way of loving Him.

Good one LL

Yes, I thanked Him, profusely. When we realize what we have been given, how can we not be thankful for everything?

I think I am very fortunate in that talking to God, praying, praising, singing to, thanking God is an all day every day thing for me.
I know a lot of believers are not in this habit, and don't really consider it, I don't know why, but I am here to encourage everyone to accept the fact that Jesus is always listening. and that now is the best time to pray.

I am surprised and saddened, that some christians don't feel they should thank God.

As Kat_D quoted on another thread:

quote:

16 "Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." - I Thessalonians 5

How can this be?

I agree ,Never stop thinking God and Jesus all day and every day is My motto. I have begun to accept the pratice of Prayer and (thankyou) Praise . Pray for what you desire in the will of God the father through Lord Jesus Christ and then go right to thanking him for what i have prayed for .
