Spotted this blog recently. I thought it was interesting. Denyse O'Leary June 25, 2008 at 1:35 pm · Filed under Vox Populi The more people sift through the sands of the Holy Land, the more artifacts they turn up - silent witnesses to the lives and times of the razor-thin slice of humanity captured in the Bible. But also there is more opportunity than ever to generate meaningless but lucrative controversies by pretending to dig up material that “disproves” the Bible. Here are some recent, apparently genuine, finds: In November 2007, Dutch researcher Marjo Korpel identified an imposing document seal at the Israel Museum, first catalogued in 1964, as belonging to the prophet Elijah’s nemesis, Jezebel. There has been much scholarly chinwagging since then about whether the seal really belonged to the infamous queen. In its favour are the fact that the name Jezebel is rare and few women in the 9th century BC were powerful enough to have one. Blog Continues

You'll enjoy this short debate then. One of the most common verbal attacks by nonbelievers gets shredded by an expert. Did Jesus Rise From The Dead? (Debate)

Dr. Skeptic should also stop to think that the disciples died for their beliefs, which no one would do if the resurrection had been a lie.

I actually saw a special on Nat Geo or Discovery Channel that the ossiaries had additional "text added" as well as the infamous pomegranate "from the Temple of Solomon". I guess there is a lot of disreputeable artifact's dealers in the ME that will modify real artifacts to give them a more "noble lineage" for lack of a better term.

ORIGINAL: Dragonnie maybe they also had labels on them that say "Genuine! This is not a fake." Which was placed right next to the "Made in China" one!

Unfortunately there are many private collectors who will pay top dollar for artifacts that are unique or exceedingly rare. Manufacturing one of a kind objects for the market is very lucrative.

I wonder how many private collectors have purchased "artifacts" for top dollar only to have found out that they were very good forgeries or fakes? I am sure it's even more problematic if it was purchased on the black market; making authentication by a reputable scholar a possible problem. Unless ... they can be bought too!

I wonder how many are to scared to have these artifacts examined for fear of the stigma that may be attached.
