Do you call it Balogna or Baloney? Also is cheese just cheese or is American, Provolone, swiss, etc? And is cheese white or yellow? Inquiring minds want to know!

Lets see here... Cheese isn't just cheese.. there's a lot of disgusting cheeses out there and some very good ones.. Now I guess you could consider American cheese as either white or orange.. I don't figure where yellow comes into play..

Hiya GoodsoGood, welcome to forums! I am somehow reminded of Mr. Mom now when he was shopping for cheese at the Supermarket.

Not in my house. If the cheese is white in my house it's either Swiss or Provolone. American cheese must be what you call orange and the deli calls yellow.

For the record, I spell it bologna, I pronounce it baloney.

I thought I posted here?

I call it baloney. I love either the kosher beef or turkey, sliced think and grilled. Slather some mustard on toast and yummo!

There is a third option: Ba-LON-ya. I have never used that pronunciation but have heard it.

As the normal stuff has pork in it, I stopped eating that years ago. As the turkey and chicken stuff has corn syrup and/or corn starch, I don't them any more either.

I call cheese by what kind it is because they have different purposes. Cheese must be white. I visited Cabot Cheese in VT a few years ago and they said it's regional. They believe in white cheese but in some areas it won't sell if it's white. People told them it wasn't natural. At which they they thought "What is cheese made out of? Milk? WHat color is milk?" You have to add food coloring to cheese to make it yellow.

I call it baloney but don't eat it: except occasionally lebanon baloney which is more like a salami.

It's baloney.

Y'know, like when you are a kid picking who will be "it"...salami, salami, baloney!
Bologna just doesn't rhyme.

I spell it bologna, but I pronounce it baloney. I think, though if you are using it in the sense of calling something untrue or silly, that it should be baloney. I'm not sure on that point, though.
