No way. In fact, it's shorter than the both NBA and the NHL. I think they oughta play 365 days a year.

As opposed the the winter sports of NBA basketball and NHL ice hockey, whose playoffs extend well into June?

If the owners and operators weren't so greedy the length of the season could be shortened by going back to things like doubleheaders. The Mets used to play at least half a dozen doubleheaders every year. that would cut a week out without even trying. Remember Ernie Banks ("Let's play two")? There seem to be more off days in the schedule than there used to be, too.

And my post is about baseball. You asked a question, I gave an answer and then an opinion. No argument.

lol. gpood p[oint. i personally can care less if pro basketball quit or kept going. i know i love to play some hoops and do pretty good at it but some games i can't even dribble right. lol.

all seasons should be in length according to the season((weather))

and i for sure dont get all the hockey teams in the South. even FLORIDA

Yeah, I miss the double headers. By the way. Took an extended lunch break and walked over to Broad St for the victory parade. So incredibly fun. I vaguely remember going to the 1 in 1980, but I was only 4.

Enjoy it while you can, next year starts the era of Mets domination.

Can't believe I wrote that with a straight face.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the next parade in 2036! See if we can keep that 28 year trend going.

Yes. It's ridiculous that the most important games are played in football weather. One of the many reasons i stopped following baseball.

To add to what I said earlier...i think that baseball is the only sport whose season is long enough to even slightly justify the salaries. What other sport gives its fans 81 home games? Basketball and hockey are both 41 and football is under 10.

When both the preseason games and postseason games are snowed out, I think it's time to shorten the season. The difference between the NBA, the NHL, and MLB is that both the NBA and NHL games are played indoors. Baseball was never meant to be played in a 30 degree wind chill factor. It is greed, pure and simple. Which is why I am boycotting baseball until they get rid of Bud Selig.

You've never played high school ball north of the Mason-Dixon Line, have you? We start practices around the same time as spring training starts, only we don't have the benefit of Florida weather. If you've ever been in Jersey in early April you know what I mean.

If God meant for you to be playing baseball up there, He would have given you better weather or an indoor stadium.

That's what we kept saying, but the coach wasn't buying.

After all the horrid weather during the Series, it's been in the 60's for the past week.

As a pirates fan, it always goes downhill after spring training anyway. But yeah with the extended playoffs they need to whack a week off the schedule. Whether they cut down the number of games or have more doubleheaders. And the world series should not start so late at night, I know with the west coast they want those people to be able to see the games but I dont think too many people (esp kids!) on the east coast can stay up to watch.
