There was a discussion on another parenting board. This is suppose to be an awesome book but scary for a parent to read. I am going to see if I can get it through my library. I hope it does not keep me up too many nights.

It is absolutely a must read for any parent. His other books on fear are also fantastic.

I 100% agree with Ryanne, that book is *AMAZING* and I can not recommend it highly enough! I think it should be required reading for parents!

...now maybe to some people what it has to say would be common sense but for me it included a lot of things I had never thought of before and it really challenged me to think through some of my parenting ideas. I especially loved the chapter on strangers.

Oh my goodness yes, it is on my "to-buy" list. I read the library's copy. It's fabulous and I have recommended it numerous times. It helped me tremendously to allow my son's outgoing personality to blossom instead of going with the popular "don't talk to strangers" bit which I was uncomfortable with anyway. I agree that it should be required reading for all parents.

The author is kind of an elitist jerk, but his books are full of great ideas and solid tips.
