I just started exercising because my self esteem is pretty much low and I thought if I started exercising, I would feel much better about myself.

Well, the exercises that I've been doing got boring and i want to learn some new ones. Do you guys know any small exercises? Easy exercises. I'm just starting...so I can't do those extreme exercises just yet. Or do you guys know any good magazines or tapes that offer simple exercises? It would be awesome if you guys give me some feedback. Thanks!

Are you talking cardio or strength training?

DVDs

the firm
billy blanks
tae boe
p90x (more advanced though)

kathy smith / denise austin

Cardio

running
walking
biking if you have one

Magazines

Shape/Fitness for the beginning exerciser

Websites:

about.com
sparkpeople.com (free)
youtube has some demos on as well
crossfit (more advanced)

Could do a trial at a gym as well.

Some cable companies have exercise shows on demand or a channel called "FitTv"

If you're in college you should be able to use the fitness center for free or a reduced price.

If you have Netflix, they have quite a selection of workout and dance/workout DVDs, some of them even on Instant View, which is nice.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for. How 'bout getting outside and walking?

Go run!

Can we assume you don't have a gym membership? And do you have any gear at home already (weights, etc.)? And what have you been doing?

I would want to do cardio exercise. I will take all of your suggestions and I do have Netflix so I can use those to exercise.

I would want to walk outside, but it's going to become really cold soon. And especially when winter comes! Haha.

Cold is as cold does, lol. Don't let it stop you. There are people in your town who walk to work every day year-round. It might be uncomfortable, but it isn't unliveable, so if you like to walk, start today, and worry about minus-50 temps when they show up. Oh, and buy a warm hat.

Weather is no excuse!!! I've always walked a lot. I didn't learn to drive until I was in my 30's, so the kids and I walked everywhere. I started long distance walking (10+miles) in the dead of winter. We had just had a beautiful snow and I wanted to enjoy it. I snapped leashes on the dogs, and a-walking we went! Now, winter is my favorite time of year to run. Dress for it (layers of wicking fabric with a "shell" if it's windy) and you are good to go!

Definitely don't let cold weather stop you! If you're exercising right, you'll be warm no matter what the temperature drops down to. My favorite time to run is during snowstorms!!!

The Crunch videos are fun, by the way. And I've always loved doing Tae-bo. For some reason, Billy Blanks really does make me think I CAN DO IT!!! ha ha

Exercise DVDs are good. Especially if you rent them-they won't get old.

I go the gym regularly, but I also like to walk. It is much more enjoyable than the repetitive motion of a stationary device.

Though I am a cold weather wimp....LOL. I also have a mini-stepper, and a mini-trampoline, which is a BLAST!

If you are working out @ home-I would also recommend some weight training. Alternate with the cardio. You can get some 8, 10, and 12 lb dumbells, and do all kinds of exercises at home with just those.

Here is a good site I refer to often to doublecheck my weight training form:

You can actually get some very inexpensive weights at Wal-Mart. You don't need a whole bunch to start with, just a couple of different ones.

Okay, sweet. And to all the people who are saying the weather shouldn't stop me...I'm not. My house is freezing. I just don't like snow and I don't like walking in it. However, I will still be exercising in an icebox since my house is just like that.
