Exploring San Francisco by cable car Check out the link above. I have visited San Francisco twice now and have ridden on all 3 cable car lines. It is very interesting! The first 2 lines depart from Market Street at Union Square. The Powell-Mason line goes up to a block or so from Fisherman's Wharf. The Powell-Hyde line goes to the other side of Fisherman's Wharf and just east of Ghirardelli Square and the Anchorage Mall. The first 2 lines have breath taking views of San Francisco Bay and it is such a thrill to be riding while holding on to the cable car! Don't worry, you can sit inside instead if that is not your cup of tea at all. The California Lines runs perpendicular to The Market-Powell and Mason lines. This line is pretty much straight with no hills and runs east from Embarcadero to Van Ness Avenue to the rest. There are other good sights on the way too. While the Cable Cars is pretty much a touristy thing to do, I do highly recommend riding them!
