What really helps build your faith when you are going through a tough time? It could be illness, finances, spiritual struggles, or anything else.... Somethings that come to mind for me are: 1. Hearing the testimony of others in a similiar situation 2. A specific scripture 3. A specific song or message

Fixing my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith, Who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. I remember and do this. LL

Remembering and knowing that He is still in control of the situation. Praising Him for being in control. Knowing that if He brought you to this situation He will see you through it. Knowing that He will not test you beyond your endurance. Trusting Him. Accepting that His will be done and not yours.

ORIGINAL: buckifn What really helps build your faith when you are going through a tough time? It could be illness, finances, spiritual struggles, or anything else.... I see it a little differently I guess. What builds my faith is going through the tough times. It is the tough times that teach me about myself and about the faithfulness of God. Tough times are merely opportunities to trust God to demonstrate that He is more than big enough to handle any situation that might come my way. When I allow Him to be who He is in and through me, He does handle it, in His own time and in His own way...and I have learned to walk in faith. I would love to be able to say I am at the point where that is always my first reaction, but I would be lying if I did. Many times my first reaction is to freak out. But then we are all works in progress, and this relationship we have with our God and Savior is always developing and deepening, as we learn to totally trust in Jesus and His sufficiency in every situation we encounter as we grow in grace. Peace

Trusting God. I've been through tough times, and have doubted him. EVEN BLAMED HIM!!! And things got worse. But when I learned to trust him and just give all my problems up to him. They got better.

Amen. All excellent answers. Have you ever been feeling low and one small thing lifted your spirit again? Those are what Max Lucado would prb. call "God moments".. I think it is interesting to hear how others experience this.
