I am a Christian (Baptist) and I feel that my faith isn't as strong as it once was. I was going to a church that I am a member at but I don't feel welcomed or really accepted there. I don't know anyone there and it feels as though not many people care too much about the new members or about the visitors. The church isn't new and the members have been there for MANY years. I went to a private Christian school from middle school all the way to graduation. I was saved there and after graduating I realized just how "extreme" and "cultish" the school was. I now feel that I have to re-teach myself how to be a Christian. An example of how the school use to teach, they would tell all of the kids that if you participate in Halloween you are giving yourself to Satan and they believed that reading Harry Potter or anything else like that is Satanic and you'll go to hell. My family doesn't openly talk about our faith. It just hasn't been done and I feel that my lifestyle doesn't match what the church does. I don't read my Bible or pray. I just feel like God and Jesus have let me down and I wish I knew how to build myself back up, in my faith. Any suggestions will be very helpful. Gods_Artist

Why in the world would you determine your faith level by how you percieve that the congregation welcomes you. Your relationship is supposed to be with God not man! Thanks RC

Is this a big church? If you are really troubled that this is the case, look for a new church. And start reading your Bible and praying.

RCJames got it spot on. Your relationship is with God; not the church, the pastor, preacher or priest. If you're uncomfortable with that church try another one. You'll find it's the same God there too. Join a Bible Study group. Better than reading the Bible by yourself as you can learn/discuss with others.

Gods_Artist I agree with everyones suggestions so far. But wanted to point out that you call yourself a Christian, yet do not read the Bible?! That is your starting point You need to build your relationship with God through His word By doing so you will learn that God doesn't fail and He doesn't leave you (Book of Hebrews) I will never leave or forsake you that We are sinful (Romans 10:9,13) That He has a plan especially for You (Jeremiah 29) I have a plan thus declares the Lord.... Prayer = Conversation with God start praying and the Lord will start directing your path. *Don't worry about your family and their relationship with God, work on **Your*** relationship with Him said a prayer for you, CRH

The ABC's of Faith(Look 'em up.) Admit-John 1:11,12 Believe- Romans 3:22,23 Confess-Romans 10:8-10 Since you 'I don't read my Bible or pray' start with a week commitment of Paul letter to the Ephesians, a chapter a day(aloud)emphasizing obedience to Jesus. Rest a day,(Sunday is a good to worship/serve by attending your local assembly) and commit yourself for another week, Ephesians again aloud, a chapter a day with the emphasis on unity with Jesus and the church.
