Whether it's the smell of a freshly opened container of coffee or the aroma of sauteing garlic, please share your favorite cooking aromas that evoke memories for some and leave stomachs growling for others.

There's a cafe in town that puts onions on the griddle before cooking their hamburgers. They also have an exhaust fan right over the grill that goes outside onto Main St. So if you go downtown during the lunch rush, you'll get the aroma of frying onions and beef for six blocks or more.

Now I know what I want for lunch.

Otherwise my favorite cooking smell is either bacon or pumpkin pie

I love the smell of baked chicken....

spaghetti...

And this one is weird for me because I don't like to eat them but I love the smell of hot dogs on the grill....I think it's probably more of a memory thing instead of a taste thing for me.

And I know this isn't really a cooking thing but a food smell that brings back wonderful memories and also gets my taste buds going are fresh cut melons..mostly watermelon, musk melon or honeydew. The smell always reminds me of my grandpa and grandma because we always had fresh melon over at their house.....and of course I just love the taste.

Bacon, cilantro, basil and pickled banana peppers. The fourth isn't so much a likable scent itself. It's just that when I smell it, I know I am smelling banana peppers, and I love putting pickled banana peppers rings in my hot dogs, because they're tasty.. It's a must-have for me.

Cilantro just has a wonderful smell. Same with basil.

And bacon? Bacon is just such a comforting smell.

Roasting turkey!

I started making my own homemade BBQ sauce in the crock pot with a nice pork loin and it REALLY smells good!

Carrot cake and cookies smell good too.

Seems like my smeller can get off sometimes and I love the mornings when I'm awakened by fresh brewed hazelnut coffee and it smells good and not like a skunk!
