With this weekend being Mother's Day, I just wondered what your favourite memories are of your mother. Something that happened in your childhood? Something that still happens to this day? Some legacy that she left you?

What are some of your favourite memories of being a mother yourself?

Wow, this is hard. But it's what I've been thinking about the last few days. The weekend before Valentine's Day 2000, dd was 6 months old and my mom came over to babysit while dh and I went to the wedding of two of his co-worker. Dd was at that just newly interactive age (or increasingly interactive) and I remember hearing her and my mother just laughing and laughing in the other room when I was getting ready for the wedding. It was the first serious belly-laugh we'd heard out of dd. I know my mom had a ball that night.

She went home the next day (about an hour and a half away). Not to start this thread on a depressing note but my mom was killed in a car accident the following day, Valentine's Day. So almost everything about that weekend and the next few days is burned into my memory. But I focus on the two of them laughing like that.

The greatest thing for me was the sacrifices my mom made to go to my basketball games..esp. when we played in regional tournaments which meant extra arrangements for her.

Her greatest legacy would have to be the way she loved God and her faith.

Wow, I'm sorry about the loss of your mother, but what memories you have of her with your little one.

Buck, what a blessing.

Jaime, what an awesome memory for you too.

Mothers Day is hard for me since Mothers Day '05.
That was the day Mom was diagnosed with cancer.
It was also my youngest sisters' birthday.
She passed away Oct '05.

But the memories I have of my Mom are wonderful.
I remember her laugh, her smile, her hugs and how much she gave of herself, not only to her family but to anyone who needed.

I was very little during my favorite memories. I think I was 3 or 4 because I was not in school yet. I fell down outside and it was very cold and snowy. I could not get up for some reason and cried very hard. I remember fear more then anything. All of the sudden I saw my mom then suddenly if felt safe. My mom carried me home and made me hot chocolate and wrapped me in a blanket.

Kim, I find Mother's Day hard too. My mother passed away 10 years ago this year. Just after Mother's Day of that year, I got a phone call to say my mother was dying in hospital.

I guess my favourite memory of my mother was her taking me into town on Christmas Eve to see the Christmas lights.

My favorite memory of my mom was when she took me to Solvang the summer between 6th and 7th grade. Just me. Which is a huge big deal when you are one of 7 kids! It was sooooo much fun, and it was the first time I saw a live play. It was at a little outdoor amphitheater, and it was Oklahoma.
