Sometimes, there are advantages to not mowing your lawn for 2 months!

I FINALLY replaced my mower last week (mine has been down 90 percent of the season) and got it out the other day and attacked the "back 40." Other than the times it conked out because the grass was too high going down a hill, it did a pretty good job.

While I was mowing, I thought I detected the faint smell of mint. I remember years ago, my mom used to make mint jelly from the plants she found out back in that yard.

Any idea what wild mint looks like? I see a lot of leaves that look kind of like clover that are close to the ground ...

We have a bunches that follow my family around.

My grandmother found it near a cold water stream.

Looks like this: << Mint >>

Going to plant it around my pond just so i can mow it

We use to have small wild strawberries on the farm where I
grew up. They were near tasteless, but it was good fun hunting them.

Ohhh yummy! We go up north and have friends who also have a place not too far from us. They have 80 aces of EVERYTHING. Wild hazelnuts, strawberries, blackberry and raspberry patches, choke cherries (Jake wants to bring those home for his dad.) Oh and cute little baby black bears in the spring. It is fun to go there and just find things. They also have clover fields which the deer like and a tiny apple orchard. I am sure they have mint too. It is great to cut it and smell it.

Bummer. Anything THAT high was mowed down. Was only too happy to tame the jungle out there. It was looking UGLY.

There are a few spots I didn't get ... mostly places that required me to move picnic tables and such. Maybe there are a few patches in those spots. Dare to dream ...

Mint is easy to identify...rub it between your fingers and if it smells like mint...there ya go. Spearmint, too.

I have mint everywhere! If anyone would like some, I'd be glad to share!

Now who would bury a perfectly good piece of chocolate??

Mint is supposed to be pretty easy to grow. I have a small section next to the house where it should grow prolifically. Once you find the mint, it should be pretty easy to transplant, if necessary.

I don't want to transplant it ... my weed garden is already overgrown with chives!

I just want to know what it looks like if I find it to put some in my mojitos!

I found some the other day ... I'm pretty sure that's what it was. I put it on my windowsill and forgot about it ... it dried up instantly.
