Today Dow plummeted in late afternoon again.....under this circumstances most ordinary people might expect the economy to slide further........ As faithful people, let's pray for the economy from now......more specifically, let's pray for the indexes altogether......if at the end of this week, the Dow comes up back, we should be confident that it is because of our pray no matter whatever reasons others might give at that time.......if it does not come back, then we should think that it is because that we need to pray more.... Let's act altogether, not in the way of most people in this world, but in our Christian way....Let's pray for the economy! In Him Ron

I can't bring myself to pray for the economy TBH. I can pray that the Lord watches over and cares for His people during times of economic woe, but that's it. There's nothing of this world that I can lose that he can't give back to me 10 fold if I'm meant to have it or need to have it.

Well, if we feel the economy is important for people, I don't see any problem for Christians to pray for a good economy just like I don't see any problem for Christians to pray for good wheather and good harvest!

The present situation was brought about by the sin of greed. Greed by the lenders to make more money, greed by the representitives to curry the favor of voters by encouraging loans to folks who could not make the payments, and greed by the borrowers by want to live in more home than they could afford. So all those who exhibited greed should pay the piper and loose their pie in the sky loans and profits. I will pray for the States to survive, and for folks to live within their means and be obedient to Schriptue; (Php 4:11) Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Amd (1Ti 6:8) And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. There is a consequence for sin (and greed is sin), so let the prices settle where they will, folks draw close to the real supplier; Christ, and we carry on with evangelizing the world for Him. Thanks RC

Well, no doubt the greedy and irresponsibility was the cause of the current problem.... but the economy is an integrted system.....we cannot separate the economy for those greedy from the economy for innocent and faithful people in this country and this world...... what might be very unfortunately is that when the economy goes wrong those who get hurt most is not the rich but the poor and innocent people...... yes the rich might make less or even lose some but they have already made enough during the good time, with which they could have much better life than most others during the difficult times.... If we think natural disaster and other tragedies could have been the result of human disobedience and evil practices and we still pray for nice earth condition and better life of human, why cannot we pray for a better economy of this country and this world? In Him Ron

I'll pray the prayer of Habakkuk 3:17-18.

I believe that He will supply all our needs according to His glorious riches. However, if we are to pray, I think we should pray as described in 2 Chron 7:14. If my people who are called by name would humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. As has been hinted at, this crisis has been brought on by sin, so we as a nation should follow the instructions given to Solomon. We as a nation need to read this entire chapter if God has brought this crisis because of the sin of this nation, which is down and out rejecting Him with our policies and laws. Abortion, pulling prayer out of school, forcing them to pull the 10 commandments out of a courthouse, now wanting to redefine marriage. Christians may be fighting these things every step of the way, but the majority of Americans are rejecting Christ, just as the world is. So, I guess that is a large reason that the whole world is hurting financially right now. The last time we experienced a national tragedy, on 9/11, the majority of Americans in this nation fell to their knees and began to pray, as did the leaders of Congress step out onto the steps of congress to pray. We were united in prayer. The result was a healing of this nation for a time, but how quickly we turned our backs once they forgot the tragedy that had happened. So, how can we be surprised that God has turned his back on those who have turned their backs on Him once again.

I cannot bring myself to pray that the econmy gets better either. I feel God will use this to bring more people to Him and to urge Christians to rely more on Him. I can pray that His will be done.

ORIGINAL: ronald Well, if we feel the economy is important for people, I don't see any problem for Christians to pray for a good economy just like I don't see any problem for Christians to pray for good wheather and good harvest! I pray for shelter, food and clothes for people because these are basic human needs. We don't need a boom-time economy, we want one. I will pray for people to be able to eat, keep clothes on their back and have shelter... but I won't be praying for them to have 5 million dollars to retire on... only that they have enough to last them the rest of their days and some extra that they could share with others who are less fortunate. I don't pray for good weather, I pray that people are sheltered and protected from bad weather. I pray for a good (physical) harvest because food is a basic human need. I pray all will have enough to eat... not that there is so much half of it rots on the vine or sits idly somewhere doing no good for anyone. I pray for a good (spiritual) harvest because I wish for God's will to be done in everyone's life... that they might be saved because that is what i believe pleases God. My point is that there are other things we should probably be praying for (that probably don't neccessarily require a good economy) in these times. I believe that the Lord takes care of His faithful in all brands of tough times. Most importantly I pray that God quiets the fears and squashes the worry of the Church. Fear is faith working backwards.
