I just finished reading "Simple Church" by Thom S. Rainer and Eric Geiger. It's a really good book. If you've read it, you can discuss what you think of the book itself here in this thread. However, if you haven't read it, there is a really funny story that Eric Geiger tells about when he was doing research for his book. He and some of his buddies put up an add on churchstaffing.com as a joke. They made a position for a fictional church called "Main Event Church" and advertised for the position of "Pastor of Extreme Worship Arts". They designed the qualifications of the candidates to be so contradictory that no one person could possibly fit them all. It is hilarious. The sad thing is that they actually had people take them seriously and apply for the job. Here is a portion of the "advertisment": Main Event Church is seeking an exceptional leader to be our Pastor of Extreme Worship Arts. We believe the right person will be a unique fit for such a time as this. This person will serve under the Senior Pastor, and will oversee all areas of worship. Candidates must embrace the Senior Pastor’s vision of aligning all people of all denominations under the same vision. The person must also meet these requirements: (Click here for the rest) I thought it was funny and wanted to share.
