I was sitting in Campus Ministry at my college when someone came in and told us about this, had us watch the video. I think it's amazing that she was elected homecoming queen. :)

Barack Obama (the Messiah) is for unrestricted abortions, pretty much for any reason, i.e Down Syndrome. Hence the comment. Not Collie, but I knew what he/she meant.

This is a real encouraging story that people don't go by looks or handicap, they go by personality and this girl has it. She also has some great friends standing by her as well.

Did you also know that about 90% of statistics are made up on the spot? Source please...

Also, I didn't realize that Obama was now responsible for every aborted child in our country. The fundamentalists on these threads never cease to amaze me.

On the numbers for Down Syndrome:

http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2008/sep/08091005.html

quote:

According to Physicians for Life between 84 percent and 91 percent of babies with Down syndrome are aborted in the U.S. While this figure is similar in Canada, it is even higher in England and Spain where 94 percent and 95 percent of unborn babies with Down syndrome are aborted.

This is fantastic!

At a small school in NW Iowa (the area where I grew up), there is a handicapped boy with shaken-baby-syndrome, who was voted Homecoming King. It was not a joke, nor a pity vote. All the kids there just love him. And the handicapped boy has just had one of the greatest thrills of his life.

Sometimes, teenagers rise up and put adults to shame, with their compassion and understanding.

very inspiring article!
Thanks for sharing it with us!
We have a nurse who was thrilled to hear about this Down syndrome child.
She and her husband have spent a lot of time with their DS daughter and she can read many children stories. She has done this through rote learning.
The nurse told that she has been so thankful that her daughter has been
very healthy her entire to be 18 years old. They have another daughter who is training to be a nurse and her goal is to be a doctor!

You're smugness is exceeded only by your ignorance.

I loved this story. Notice her friend called this a "blessing". I cannot help but wonder if this is a Christian school?

I saw that and its awesome!

Down syndrome individuals can be very sweet loving indeed, worked with them as other special needs kids, for almost 2 years voluntarying after highschool etc.

I do have to kind of contain myself to not go hugging when I see one, they are magnets to my heart.

Edit:...I just went to research and found where I volunteered in Amazonia, Brasil..such tight budget and much needs and etc but lots of serious loving people involved in the lives of others and thir families etc:

I always loved the APAE logo, as the tenderness of flowers in our hands, to handle with love, respect and care for special needs kids and their families.

APAE Belem

APAE Headquarters Sao Paulo APAE means Association Of Parents and Friends of the Exceptional.

Thanks OneofHisjewel, for bringing such years ago loving memories, by mentioning Kristen.

What an awesome thing for these kids to do!

Never would have heard of this in the "perfect" past! Back then, they would just call them "retarded" just like they did with my sister and cousin.

Andy is a Down Syndrome child who helps with cleaning at my health club. The guy is a perfectionist who wants to clean up any smudge or spot that remains on a piece of equipment.

One thing I've noticed about people with Down's syndrome is that they don't have a mean bone in their bodies. They are nice, polite and are always eager to please people.

There are many places in my area that employ them and they all say that they are their best workers! They are never late and they work a full shift and you won't find them hiding in the bathroom texting their friends.

As a father of an adopted special needs (Prater Willie),
this was very special. Thanks for posting it.

And I agree that those teens are tops.
Beauty is not the barbie grouping.

I agree that I have never met a mean DS person.
It's like they are endowed with agape.

My brother-in-law doesn't have full on down's syndrome, but he is probably about a third or halfway there. He is 33 but the doctors say he will always have only the mind of a 12 year old. Let me tell you he is the most helpful, caring, nicest person you'd wanna meet. He is a hard worker also, and makes sure everything is done right. He's a great person.

Philippians 2:1-11
1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
