Moderator: My apologies if this thread needs to be moved, I wasn't sure where to post this so posted here in the Singles since that's where I hang out now!
Here is a copy of a poem I wrote after 9/11, and 7 years later it seems like it is still very much pertinent. Plus, hopefully it's a bit uplifting and keeps us focused on God no matter what viewpoint we may take!
God Bless America
Do we weep or do we now pray? But Lord in these terrible times may we nevermore stray.
Lady Liberty still holds the torch high, Yet the tears are welling deep within her sad eyes.
The only place I feel safe is on my knees Crying out for America's protection, both her land and her seas.
We need today Your guidance, wisdom and love; Asking for forgiveness and strength from above.
Have our wounds ever been quite this deep? Yet we still know it's You that we should seek.
Looking to the throne we give our hearts back to You Knowing that there's really nothing else we can do.
Let us not be fearful, burying heads in the sand; But let us all rise united, together take a stand.
We will not be filled with hate, fear or lies; We will only seek out our saviour, Jesus Christ.
Justice will surely be found in its time, But we ask for a Godly and righteous mind.
Let Christ show in His church, true and strong; As we strive for unity as we should have all along.
God Bless America!

Good prayer/poem Hoosier. God will definitely bless and keep His own and work everything together for good to give us the best blessing - conformity to His Son and all that that brings to us. The rest? Well, American or no, hell is their choice and being deceived to accept it as well.

very nice....but I think our days of reaping what we have sown have now come upon us...the days of blessings are long gone imo.

I think you're right, buckifin. God is judging America, not blessing her. He will always be true and good to his own - those who are in Christ, but makes no promises to those who reject Him. Most of America despises Jesus Christ. America is a really sick and sinful nation. I had no idea just how much America despised Christ until I extended grace to terrorists on line in an attempt to get them saved as Scripture commands. What has taken place in my life since is unbelievable. America despises Christ with a vengeance - a deliberate, clearly thought out, murderous, lawless, profoundly deceptive, vengeance. I experience it directed at me almost everyday.

Buckfin, Galadriel, you are both very correct. This nation has chosen to turn away from God and will face the consequences. Sadly, I feel like these words are no longer for the nation but for the church. I pray that now we will choose to wake up and be prepared for the road that is ahead of us. Whether we choose to do it now or face it later, every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. My biggest hope and prayer is that the church will spread this message to others before it is too late, not for us who have eternity but for those who have yet to accept it.
