I have recently discovered Canton Jones. I had a concert at my church and the teens went crazy. They love him and really love what he has to say.

It's not really true rap, but DC Talk's "Jesus Freak" is about as close as my listening tastes will let me get - so it gets my vote.

C'mon now, don't be hatin' on Tobymac. He does mainly hip-hop/rock, but he has a few tru rap songs in there. Let's not forget about Tunnel Rats and did anyone besides me listen to Peace 586? I don't think so...which would explain their quick departure from existence. What about King Shon and the SSMOB? Loved that album.

Peace 586 was a part of the Freedom of Soul that is in my list. SS Mob was pretty tight. King Shon has returned as "Big King". Like the Gospel Gangstas first album, it was kind of controversial with the "N-word" being used, but it was a great project. I covered their album party...was one of my favorite experiences.

I really like Lyricyst - "Showbiz"

He was on Total Axxess with Wally the other night and when I heard him talk I had to get on his myspace to see what he looked like...

I was utterly surprised. His voice threw me, because he talks nothing like he raps. Then I saw his picture, and he looks nothing like I expected. lol... Just wow. I still like his music though, even though he's a skinny white dude, he flows pretty good.
