First, I want to apologize to anyone who might be offended by the word "Chick" - I took it from an online article that I was reading about different cars and mean no disrespect.

I was looking for a mechnic one evening on the CarTalk website, when I found a list called "The Ultimate Guy and Chick Cars of All Time." I found it amusing and thought that I'd share it here and see what you guys think (all in good fun)! I thought it might be interesting to talk about it, particularly considering the discussion we've been having on "Singles Cars." Interestingly enough, there's not a minivan or SUV (which are often considered family cars) in the bunch ... ...

Top 5 "Chick" Cars

5. Dodge Neon
4. VW Jetta
3. Mazda Miata
2. VW Cabriolet
1. VW Beetle

Top 5 "Guy" Cars

5. Dodge Viper
4. Ford F-150 Pickup
3. Chevy Camaro
2. Chevy Corvette
1. Ford Mustang

Personally, I'd add the Toyota Celica to the woman's list. Anything you'd add, delete? Do you agree? Thoughts?

I've driven 2 "guy" cars before. My first car was a chevy camaro. I wouldn't drive any of the "chick" cars. As of now i'd love a Dodge Charger or a Toyota 4-runner.

Who made up this list anyway?! You couldn't catch me dead in a VW Beetle and yet it's #1 on the chick's cars list! LOL! I guess I wouldn't really drive any of the cars on the chick's list, but I would drive any of them on the guy's list, go figure! (Maybe that's why I'm single...JK!!) I really wanted a Ford Mustang instead of my S-10, but it wasn't a possibility right now. But, someday...
And when you see the Hot Pink mustang with flames going up the side, you'll know it's me!LOL!!!

Miss Giggles, the list was a compilation of responses from a nationally-broadcast (in the US) radio show called "Car Talk." The question that they posed was which car would a woman be most likely to be attracted to and buy - and which would a man be most likely to be attracted to and buy. Of course we know that cars are inanimate objects and do not have gender, but when we look at sales patterns, there is evidence that more women might buy a VW Beetle than say, a Dodge Viper. This list was not based on sales statistics, but rather is an aggregate list of the opinions of the listeners of that program.

I love mine, except for the fact that it's green and my guy friends lovingly refer to it as the "green bean machine", but they all drive really cool "Big" trucks!

Well thanks for clarifying, cause the neon isn't made anymore so i wasn't sure if it was desired cars or cars actually purchased.

I guess since i am in the suburbs of detroit our perception of cars is skewed..none of the newer cars that are selling like crazy since the gas prices went up like the civic or accord are on that list..nor any of the hatchbacks.

Car buying habits tend to be totally different among younger buyers as well, I am guessing the car talk crowd is probably an older audience.. most young people don't listen to talk radio.

Interesting! I like a combination of "guy" and "chick" cars on the list. I've always liked the Jetta, since the 1980s. But I also like the Miata, Cabriolet, and the Corvette. I like the Viper too, but won't be getting one anytime soon .

If it's pink (any shade) or any pastelly type color - chick car.

Humvee is a guy car. Especially when equipped withthe twin .50's

I have to disagree with this... I've always wanted one of those... particularly a military issue one. however i cannot afford one much to my dismay.

I vote for Ford Focus to be added to chick cars list. On those lists the only one I've ever owned was a F-150.

I Think the ultimate guy or chick car has got to be the Nissan 350Z Roadster.

But I'd never trade my Xterra for anything out there.
