I have seen a few. I do not recall the most recent but it was about 2 IDF guys being called up and trying to find their unit during the 6 day war back in 1967. It was all in Hebrew.

Well...yes? Of course? I guess I don't understand the question, except if you're really asking have I seen any, then it probably numbers in the thousands, and I wouldn't know how to start listing them. I guess I could list some of the ones I own:

The Colour Trilogy

Little Otik

La Femme Nikita

Killing Zoe

Cemetery Man

Persona

Twin Town (not really, it's Welsh, but a lot of people can't understand it)

Wings of Desire

Are you just looking for recommendations, or...?

For a while I got into Asian horror flicks. I kept lying to myself and saying they were good.

Brotherhood of the Wolf is a good foreign flick.

Otherwise, I've watched too many to remember. I think the last one I saw was Angel-A.

Little Otik freaked me out, and I'm not easily freaked out.

We've seen quite a few, especially when we were in our Netflix stage.

We finally got a decent video store here with an actual Foreign film section and no giant wall of porn. Last foreign film we saw was (I think)The Devil's Backbone. Anyone think that one looks a little like the current one he's floating around?

The only Israeli war movies I can recall is Kippur and the more recent Beaufort. There's another one, I think is called A Time of... something...I think that might be the one you're talking about, though I recalled it' set sometime more recently than say, 1967.

I made my son watch Das Boot with me. He was put off initially (he's fourteen; they all have short attention spans!) by the movie's length, but was amazed at how quickly it flew by.

I've also recently seen Run Lola Run. Fantastic.

And then there's my favorite German movie, Schulze Gets the Blues. It's one of those "little movies" you never hear about, but is well worth searching for. An absolute gem. Go find this movie!

yes, a lot. the best one is called the Red Balloon, or Le Balon Rouge, about a little boy who befriends a balloon and the other kids make fun of him and pop the balloon. I even cried. And I've seen a few Akira Kurosawa films. In college I saw a slew of foreign films. the worst one was in a Russian Hisotory class. no offense, but I didn't enjoy those at all. perhaps i am too americanized.

The Orphanage? It was pretty awesome. Keep in mind, it's not directed by Guillermo del Toro, but is "presented" by him (I suppose as a way of garnering attention). It does remind me a bit of the Devil's Backbone though, crossed with Poltergeist.

yeah, and that sucked. so do most hollywood remakes of foreign films. hey! maybe that would be a good thread: [hollywood] remakes of foreign films - good or not?
