Wow! It didn't even end with the classic admonition that homeschooling isn't for everyone and school officials are worried..blah, blah, blah.

I liked how they actually warned people against trying for tax credits to avoid more regulation. To see an article suggesting that more regulation is a bad thing is quite remarkable.

Link to video: http://www.foxnews.com/specialreport/index.html# (scroll down to Educational Liberties 101)
It wasn't negative, they brought up hsing's diversification and how more parents are looking at it as a viable education choice.

Just watched the second video, much more of a debate there. I would think that for children to participate they need to be signed up as part-time students, the school districts are not set up to be community colleges or city activity programs. I understand what the dad is wanting, but we don't want to partner with PSing even for a one class, you give an inch they will take a mile!

I hear ya but it would be great to get a tax credit if you can't participate on things that your tax dollars are going towards, with out the finger of uncle sam of course!

In our state, Washington, we have the right to use the public school system at will. You could take your child over to the local school and sign her up for art if you wanted to. It does not impact your homeschool freedoms in Washington.

I live in WA, also. Some schools drag feet and such, and my grandmother, who taught here, complained that one mom would bring her daughter in on unit-end days just for the parties, which I think is just plain rude myself, so while it isn't perfect, it works out ok most of the time.
