In these verses John 3:25-36 John the Baptist was approached regarding the fact that Jesus was also baptizing people and more than John. But rather than feel selfishly slighted, and irritated, John felt joy. Surely, John fully understood what he meant when he said in John 3:30, " He must increase, but I must decrease." What a valuable portrayal of the understanding of Jesus and His role in our lives - or our role in His life. I tried to think of ways i have tried to apply "He must increase" in my own life. In the moments of intense discussion with my beloved husband i used to get so bent on wanting to be right and prove my point. Now, however, i hope i realize that discussions aren't about me being right but letting what is right shine through. And sometimes it is so noticeable that GOD spoke when i was quiet that i shout up a big "Praise GOD!" So now i am curious, how does "He must increase, but I must decrease" apply to your life?

I can't be a PESTamist. With God's help I try to love all no matter their attitude &/or actions. Consider all innocent until proven guilty. Say "God bless" to all instead of "Good day". Smile/Wave at drivers of big-rigs as we pass. Consider nothing mine; I am borrowing God's things.

I always liken this to proper size and placement. When I am very, very small and take a place of insignificance in relation to God, and He is very, very big and takes the place of primary importance in relation to me, then this Scripture is fulfilled in my life. When I get to thinking too highly of myself and try to move into God's place, everything falls apart. More about Him...less about me.

Little 'obediences' count as much as martyrdom in the eternal realm. When you receive a 'wrong number' wish them God's blessing on their day. When you see a school bus aloud, 'School bus! Pray for students, teachers and schools.' and don't shy the company. When walking, try to catch the eye and say, 'Hi guys(ladies)!' Adults aren't especially anxious to respond but kids/youth love it! and, be ready to proclaim '...him you have come to trust in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are set on God.'(1Peter 1:21)

Sometimes I am accused of being overly simple in my thoughts & responses & I thank God for that, praying He keeps me "down to earth". It is just possible that in simplicity, there may be genuine truth & clarity. While the intellectual is quite scholarly & sounds really fascinating, they may never clearly understand due to "over-thinking". If ever there was a means to try & NOT over think, it is the Gospels of Jesus Christ. With that in mind, ironically, John 3:30 clearly tells me that I should have no thoughts or considerations on my own, that I should shed myself of my own inferior approach that tends to over think life & describe everything by only my mediocre human means (in shedding this, I decrease) and only trust in God's teaching, guidance, and soveriegnty, allowing God full control my life (He must increase). Everything that is done in honor of God, every good deed, every heartfelt smile, every charitable act, every moment of compassion, every sharing of the gospel, everything that is right & good, THAT is our decreasing and His increasing in on this earth.

Stepping aside to self to joyfully introduce Someone wonderful to the world......(((((( "JESUS" )))))) But what this means in reality? * Being in a position to say, "I told you so" but choosing to refrain; * Not trying to get revenge on another who has wronged you (even when such is within your power); * Praying for our enemies; * Praising God in the hard times; * Not slacking at work when everyone else is doing so on a Friday afternoon, etc, etc......
