I'll ditto the other 3 responses. Bad idea.

It is a conflict of interest for your father. What if he had to let her go or she messed up at work and he had to repremand her for it? She may expect special treatment b/c she is dating the bosses son. What if you dated for a while and then broke up with her? What if she broke up with you? Would your father take it out on her if she did? Like Tink said, too many red flags.

Like Trainfan said, too much potential for problems for everyone...you, her, your dad. It's almost inevitable that something bad will come out of it.

As long as she doesn't work for willfs' dad, she can go out with him. We're not advocating any kind of widespread ban on dating secretaries. Are we?

Well, that clears that up then, HBA. Willfs cannot date your mother. But he can date a secretary as long as she doesn't work for his father.

Thanks. All of the concerns mentioned in this thread are very valid.... maybe if she moves on to work for someone else... maybe.

Well, I guess I am going to be the lone ranger here. On the one hand, I think all the concerns are legitimate. On the other hand, I have met plenty of happily married couples who have met in such a way. I would hate for you to lose out on "TRUE LOVE" just because it's politically correct. I wonder if you could date her, but establish some guidelines, keep work and dating separate/don't send flowers at work, etc.

i wouldn't say no right away as i didnt' see enough info for me to give a suggestion. does she work in your dad's office and secretary to the whole office? if so, how big is the office? or is it your dad's personal secretary? does your dad own the company or just work there. what does your dad say or do you only have a crush? if it's a big company, it's possible she could even transfer to another department, etc if a relationship ever developed. i wouldn't necessarily rule it out right away :)

She is my Dad's personal secretary. Those two are the only ones that really work there, except for a few part time. My Dad is the Ceo. She isn't there permanently though.

My suggestion would be, wait until she's gone then persue her if you're still interested. Definitely a conflict of interests until them. *huggles*

I don't have any experience with this ... but I don't think it would be wise.

For those who think it unwise, could you give the reasons. She will be quitting my dad's job this winter to move on to another career (after graduating college). I don't know if I want to wait because I fear she might be snactched up by another guy while I wait around for her to quit my dad's office.
