Do you have a relative that drives you batty or gets under your skin? Is there an older relative that you could say, 'I don't want to be like ____ when I'm their age!'? What is it that they do? Complain? Gossip? Criticize others or you? Do you sometimes hear 'mama' when you're getting onto your children or when talking to your spouse? Multiple selections ARE allowed on this poll!

There aren't any relatives that I really don't want to be like. But there are some people I've known in life that I don't want to be like. My ex-h's mother is manipulative and self-centered. Everything is about her and she will do anything to get things her way. I've know a few people in life like that. I don't want to be that person. Ever. However ... I DO want to be like my mom and Gramma. Mom is just like Gramma, and Gramma was the most special person I ever met, and I've heard several people tell me that.

I don't really wanna be like anyone else. I wouldn't do a poll against any of my relatives because I love them all but they have their own lives and I don't wanna be like any of them. I'd most like to be like my dad, except for a few things haha.

I would never want to be like my mother. She won't attend church because they ask for money. She has no friends. She's critical of every relative. She is very unhappy. She shops all day and eats out every day then talks very mean to salespeople and yells at a waitress for the smallest thing. No one wants to go places with her because of how she acts in public. She's been this way my whole life. I feel very sorry for my mother.

I don't think I'm anything like any of my relatives except my interest in crafts, flowers and any animals from one precious grandmother. I'm a bit like my grandfather, too. He was slow to speak and even tempered. One of my grandmothers locked herself in a dark room for the last 30 years of her life. She only went out to have her hair done on Saturday and to go to church on Sunday. She was a very bitter and angry woman. I would never want to be that bitter and unhappy.

I don't want to be like my Uncle, he's an alcoholic and smokes a lot. He goes to AA but there's still a lot wrong with his life. I think I'll be like my Mum...that's a good thing though, she's pretty cool.

If I could be like my grandfathers, I would be pleased. They were real. My father's father (Grandfather C), I admit, was my favorite, but that is just because I only met my mother's father twice. Grandfather C was the most fabulous person. I understand that he was very sexist toward my aunt, who had to run away from home in order to fulfill her life's dream, but that was the way many men were back then. By the time I knew him, he was different. I loved him so much. As for women, if I could be like my two mothers-in-law, that would be a good thing. My father was a great man who never developed into his greatness, because of certain circumstances. Had he been able to be all he could have been, he would have been like Grandfather C.
