Any tips????? Noah is 18 months old now. He has had these glasses since around 3 months. As soon as he figured out how to get them off, since maybe 7 months old, he won't keep them on for more than a few minutes. He's too young to bribe.

Has anyone here had babies with glasses?

Yes, my daughter got her first pair when she was 18 months old. She never took them off because she adored being able to finally see something. We even had to patch one lens (to strengthen the weaker eye) and she didn't mind that either. She was an extremely compliant child.

Little story: The day she got her glasses we picked them up in the afternoon and when my husband came home from work, she kept staring at him...then she reached out and touched his head and said, "Oh Daddy, you have curly hair!" She never knew.

My only suggestion would be one of those tight elastic band things that hook on the ear pieces and fit around the back of his head...have you tried that yet?

Our Katie just got glasses...today! She'll be 4 next month. I think we're going to have to end up with the sports band thing...she's just too rough and tumble...

Yes, we've tried two different kinds of bands. He knows how to pull his glasses up over his head.

Yesterday, he looked at me, took off the glasses and giggled and ran and threw them in a bush...twice. He is only 18 months old and he knows very well what he's doing!

Okay, that sounds like an act of willful disobedience...how did you discipline him for that?

It's a good thing he's so darn cute, Annie.

He obviously knows what he's doing, in which case he's old enough to get punished for it.

Have you thought about Gorilla Glue?

No, he did not get disciplined for it, he got his way because they are too expensive to loose. I guess all I can do is keep trying.

I agree.

I'm sure they are expensive and you don't want to lose them. All the more reason to show him that throwing them around is not allowed and will not be tolerated. You don't want to still be fighting this battle with a 3 year old who is more than able to keep them on, KWIM?
