As most of you know, I have a lot of unforgiveness in my life towards me dad who used to lay his hands on me. Just recently, my mom went to oregon to take care of my uncle who was sick with cancer but is now healed (as most of you know also). While my mom was in Oregon, my dad and I had to be in the same house for 2-3 weeks. During this time, God's been really telling me that I need to forgive my Dad. And day by day, I'm letting go of the anger. Is it gone? Of course not. Is it almost gone? Nope. But am I trying? Most definitely. I've been feeling a lot more peace lately about it. I don't necessarily love him just yet. I believe that's going to take years...but I'm relying on Jesus to heal my hurts from my past and then I can move forward. I forgave everyone else, except for my dad and another person. So keep me in your prayers! I need it! And I know most of you will :)

For what they're worth, you have my prayers. Lord, look down upon beachcooky. Help heal what is inside of her. The inability to forgive is a terrible thing. Give this young woman the heart to see past the hurt and the hate from pain in her life which is very real. Grant her peace in her soul, and help her to leave the past behind her. Let her be able to forgive that which her father did to her. Have mercy upon her father, too, and help show him where he has wronged her, so that he might be willing to seek you and help aid both her and himself in their respected healing. Lord, I ask all of this in the name of your Blessed Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Father, Thank you for helping beachcooky. Thank you for giving her the desire to forgive her Dad. Please heal her of her wounds and grant her full forgiveness of him. Please intervene in her Dad's mind so that he will repent (if he hasn't already) and move toward reconciliation with beachcooky. Heal their relationship. Thank you for your mercy and patience. Thank you for all that you will do for beachcooky and for her Dad. We pray for them both in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

beachcooky, what a precious child of God you are. Dear Father, thank You for giving beachcooky the desire and wisdom to want to forgive her dad. Lord, You know how hard it is to forgive very deep hurts. In fact it is only possible through Your power. Help beachcooky with the process of forgiving her dad. Heal her wounds Lord. Help her dad also, and bring him to a place where he knows You, if he doesn't already. Where he seeks Your forgiveness, and has no desire to harm anyone else. Bless Your precious child with peace as she grows in forgiveness. Fill her with Your joy Lord. In Jesus precious name. Amen

Beachcooky I think the Lord understands how hard this is for you. I cant imagine the emotions you must have had when you were alone in the house with him. I was once in that situation and truly understand the fear and anger that comes back in. The Lord is going to help you to get past this. You just need to keep giving it to him and keep trusting him to help you . I think you are doing very well considering the situation you are in. Lord I lift up Beachcooky to you. Help her Lord as she reaches out to you. Help her Lord to heal from the pain and anger. Only through your love can she find a way to forgive all she has been through. Give her strength and assurance Lord that you will be there for her and help her with this. Thank You Lord for all you are doing in beachcookys life. Thank You for the love she has and want she has in her heart to forgive those who have hurt her. Hold her near you Lord and keep her in your loving hand. Hi Beachcooky ... I can't water down this one, as we must look to Scripture ... but I have a question: are you so sure the problem is unforgiveness? Perhaps it is not so much as unforgiveness, as a raft of hurting memories? We need to hear what Jesus said about this. He said very bluntly that if we do not forgive, nor will our heavenly Father forgive us. This is what I cannot water down for you. The road to forgiveness begins with speaking it out. Not necessarily directly to your dad, but out loud to your heavenly Father. It doesn't matter initially if you don't FEEL it - the more you speak it out, the more the Holy Spirit can take that obedience in you and do the healing in your heart, which I suspect is the hindrance here. In my own life, when I have been really hurt, the Holy Spirit has led me to do this. I speak out the words "I forgive so and so for doing such and such" (and I am specific when memories come to mind, e.g "Father God, I forgive that girl N for calling me names in front of the other kids" - that was a real instance as a teenager). Nowadays, it tends to be my hubby who needs my forgiveness the most! Sometimes I don't "feel" the forgiveness. But I speak it out anyway. The Lord takes that, and before I know it, I am no longer even thinking about it. I encourage you to do this about every single thing that comes to your mind about your dad, past and present. Father God, please help Beachcooky have the courage to speak out forgiveness where needed. I ask that You bring to her mind all the things that have left scars and festering marks, and I ask You to heal the hurt and memory from every last one of them, that they no longer evoke anger and resentment in her heart Lord. May they just become distant memories of the past that no longer have any power over her. Help her too Lord to learn to forgive quickly, that nothing may take root in her for the future. I ask this in Jesus Name amen

Hi beechcooky I am still praying for you and believe in my heart that the Lord is going to bring healing in this area of forgiveness in your life. Sometimes we can be scared to allow ourselves to become more vulnerable by forgiving someone who has hurt us. God understands this. Your dad betrayed your trust when you were at a vulnerable age and stage in your life and it must be hard for you to trust even our Heavenly Father and so my prayer for you is found in Ephesians 3:16-21: quote:

Beachcooky, when someone asks "would I go to hell for such and such ..." of course the natural response is for us to say "of course not" - and it is certainly true that God does not want ANYONE to go to hell. If people go there, it is by choice through disobedience. Are you willing to speak out that forgiveness, whether you feel it or not? I can tell you this - there have been a couple of people (non-Christians actually) who have been talking about some person in their life - and I think in all instances it was a relative! - who have said to quite emphatically "I will NEVER forgive so-and-so". I tell you, my heart cringes when I hear that. What bondage they take upon themselves!! And yes, the danger then of hell is very real for them. The other thing about holding onto unforgiveness is that like other sins that sometimes we hold onto, it becomes an idol. It's not so much always that people can't let go - sometimes they don't WANT to let go, because the subject is something that gives them attention - even a purpose! I don't know if you have ever read the book or seen the film Moby Dick .. but that is a scary example of someone who was harmed by a whale, took on a vendetta against the whale, and went to his death trying to get revenge ... fictional, but some scary truths in it! It is great that in your heart you want to forgive. If that's really the case, then begin speaking it out before the Lord. He'll take care of the rest.

Even doing something good towards the person who has harmed you also helps. This is very hard but it works.

((((((beachcooky)))))))))))) Thanks for sharing. Please be encouraged today. God sees your heart and know your desire to forgive your dad. He also knows that our spirit is willing but our flesh is weak. I totally agree with what Little_1 has shared about speaking forgiveness even when we don't feel it. We are told not to live by our feelings but by faith. I know it is so hard sometimes because it doesn't make sense to our flesh. I think eventually as we speak it out and walk in forgiveness, despite our flesh, that over time our feelings will line up with what we are speaking out. Thats what it means to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, and that comes by following truth and not our feelings. Be patient with yourself and don't be so hard on yourself. God sees your heart and your desire to please Him. He honors that and will give you the strength to do what you cannot do on your own. My wife was sexually abused by her father when she was a child. It took time and was hard for her, but through prayer and speaking truth God brought her to a point where she was able to release all of her unforgiveness towards her father. Jesus, please be with beachcooky today. Lord, you see her heart and her desire to walk in truth. Fill her with peace and joy today. Give her a deeper revelation of your love for her that she may rest in you. Help her and fill her with joy, because your joy is our strength and your strength is made perfect in our weekness. Help her to walk in truth, not her feelings. Bless her and give her peace today. We love you Jesus. Thank you for everything. In Jesus name, amen
