Me and my friend(mentor) had a long talk today about me wanting to help out with the youth friday.I asked the youth leader and he says he will get back to me in a few weeks or so.I sure hope He isn't just putting me off. Anyways my friend tried to prepare me for when me and youth leader do talk on how he'll probably ask how I've grown in the Lord,and if I can tell him ways I have.She says I should write down ideas of ways I want to grow,sort of like a spiritual measuring stick and try and reach my goals within a year or so.That sounds easy enough but I don't even know where to begin evaluating myself.I am my own worst critic in that area.She also suggested I keep a prayer journal. I love her ideas but am not sure how to begin,and need people to stand beside me in prayer as I begin doing all this. Thanks and God bless you all,Love Sunshine.

I would suggest to you that you first, take it to the Lord in prayer and seek His will for you in this area. If the youth pastor needs some time, use that time for your own benefit ans see if this is still the desire of your heart in a few weeks. IOW, testing it to see if it's a whim or a true desire as in calling). I don't know about someone asking how you've grown in the Lord, though. It seem that would be evidenced in your walk, where words wouldn't be necessary. 9Just my thoughts on that) Now asking for goals, what you would like to see achieved or focused on with the youth, would be something , I would think, as pertinent info to have on hand.
I say all this because making a commitment to a ministry is a serious deal.
I'm in no way suggesting that you aren't making a serious commitment. Just adding things to think about. Hope it helps

Thanks for your advice Delivered.I have been taking it to the Lord more than ever for him to reveal his will for my life. Now I just need to patient and to wait on him.It is so hard to do though.I am not a very patient person.

Hi Nicole, I would ask advice from someone who you already trust as a spiritual mentor etc. on how to journal, what your giftings, strenghts are, etc. As far as journaling too, all that is really is you after praying and reading the word, just writing down what your thoughts are on a particular scripture, what you feel God is speaking to you about, etc. Now I know this is not much advice at all, however I hope it helps a little bit though.

Thanks Mike.I do have a mentor who has been helping me out tremendously.My journaling is going awesome too and I have been trying to do it everyday.It is going awesome.Thanks so much for responding and God bless you always,Love Sunshine.

During this time of waiting also pray & consider what ability or material or perspective, etc. you have that could/would be a benefit to the youth grouip. Then relay this to the youth leader.

Thanks I am.That is a very good idea and one I never even thought of.I was thinking if the youth pastor says Yes we will just go from there.I'm not good at planning ahead lol.

Lord, thank You for sunshine4God'sdesire to be of service to You. If this is the place that You want to use her, open the doors. If it is in another area, then gently guide her in that direction. Bless her Father. She is already a blessing to others. Make her moreso Lord, help her to grow, and use her to Your glory. In Jesus name. Amen

Just be yourself and by all means examine yourself. For men to have to determine your worthiness by your own testimony or qualifications is as history has sadly shown is such a silly idea. They should already know you the of your faith and love. I certainly would not worry whether they chose you or not for men rejected Christ so I do not have much faith in men. Nevertheless, your faith, love and joy in Christ should already be self-evident. There is little point is trying to help others, if you can not even begin to help yourself. By all means get involved in what you want to do for real leaders are not appointed by men but lead by example of faith, love and the Spirit of God. God forbid that any man should say that you cannot get involved becasue you are not qualified or not taught by them for didn't they do that to Chirst?
Personally you have got my vote simply by your involvment in this web site. God Bless!

I havent heard anything new from the youth pastor but have had many awesome conversations with my Mentor.I thank God for her every day.She is helping me see I need to let down my walls and just surrender every area to God,especially emotianal issues such as low self esteem and insecurity.I am really working on it and bringing it to the Lord that I do want to be free.
