http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/10/09/business/icebank.php Apparently entire countries are not immune to this mess... it's bad enough that companies are going bankrupt left and right, but an entire COUNTRY? What do you do about that?

Well, sure, but if the city of Cincinnati goes bankrupt, it doesn't take out an entire currency, and at least we know who might do something (the state government, federal government, etc)

Wel, this was inevitable considering dropping home prices. I mean if you can afford a home somewhere else, why would you stay in Iceland?

Have you ever been to Iceland, Jhud? It's one of the most beautiful places I have seen. Really rugged frontie-stuff. On another note - the Icelandic stockmarket has taken a 75% drop. Just to put the rest of the markets in perspective. :) WormHeart

If I want to see how beautiful Iceland is, I will look at pictures; if I want to endure months of hellish cold, I will simply walk out my back door in a few months. The difference is, we can drive away from it here is we want.

People tend to love their homes, their country, their lives, history and families. Icelanders are not immune to being in love with their land too -- it's silly to think that simple cold would make everyone leave, and only poverty keeps people there.
