YES!!! I'd love to watch the triathletes! Plus, it would be great to see my former coach again. He's coaching the tri team. However, that would ruin my own training. I have my first half IronMan later in August...

Nope. I feel sorry for the athletes that are going to have to compete in those crummy conditions. They handing out free gas masks?

No way. I don't like being watched 24/7, having my internet access monitored, or breathing air that's worse than LA ever was. I saw a report yesterday that the "free" parks where people can go to protest aren't really free, you need permission from the Chinese government to access them. Yeah, they'll get a lot of use. The reporter on that story had to cut it short because the police kept blocking their camera. Yep, celebrate freedom. The Chinese way. "NOT ALLOWED"

I agree with uncabeeil. I never want to see China develop into a superpower (although it's already happened in many ways). They have a history of oppressing individuals (I value the individual over the collective, the Chinese are the opposite) and the smaller countries around them whenever they could. It seems like the only time they play nice is when they are victimized by their own arrogance and isolation (like when Europe treated them like a colony for all intensive purposes or when Japan attacked them in WW2). They certainly are not playing nice right now.

I give them enough money buying all the junk "Made In China" they don't need my tourist dollars to build a bigger, better opression machine. Whose next? A part of India? Mongolia? They need breathing space!!!

I'd go so long as I could be one of the volunteer cheerleaders!!! (I watched their practices on tv last night....I think I've got it down.) I wouldn't go. I would love to see the Olympics but I don't think my lungs would hold up. I have trouble dealing with the Toronto smog, don't think I could handle Beijing smog.

No, but I wish I could have gone to the winter olympics in Salt Lake City the year that they were there.

That depends. Do I have to drink Chinese beer when I'm over there? I've drank Chinese beer. I don't like Chinese beer. Chinese beer tastles like a cross between Tang and the water in my pot after cooking up a bag of Minute Rice. If I have to drink Chinese beer, I'm not going.

No i would not go to BEIJING for the Olympics. 1] More pollution than i ever seen any where. 2] They are the worlds biggest country and dont give a hoot about the environment. 3] They suppress religous and individual freedom. DONK
