So we meet again, Dr. Jones...
Yep, met up with him yesterday.
I loved it ~ BUT ~ my opinion may be a little bias since I'm a Harrison Ford addict.
The movie was fun ~ with lots of classic Indy.

I saw the midnight showing Wednesday night.
Last Crusade and Raiders are still my favorites, but this one was pretty good. Best approach to take is to not expect the Second Coming, as the hype for this movie has been pretty huge. Its a enjoyable ride.
Cate Blanchett, I thought, stole the show as the villain Spalko. She made for a good villain. Shia LeBeouf did a good job (I was one of the ones who had questioned his casting, but I give him props for his performance). It was great seeing Karen Allen as Marion again. And of course, the man himself Harrison Ford, its always great to see him as Indy. I can see no one else in that role.
Good movie, and a nice wave of nostalgia for me watching it.

I like Harrison Ford and love Indy, but IMO, the was the weakest of all the films. Even a little worse than "Temple of Doom" with all of Kate Capshaw's screeching.

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD**************
I just got home from watching Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. There was a lot of extremely fun adventure movie action! A little recap and reaction:
Area 51 in Roswell? Check.
Rocket sled rides through the desert? Zoom!
Riding out an atomic bomb detonation in a lead-lined refrigerator? Genius!
A diner brawl between the preppies and the greasers? Swingin'!
A fist fight from the back of a motorcycle ending up in a library? Good times!
Two minute conversations revealing twenty years of backstory? Consider my belief suspended.
Creepy South American asylum? Zoinks!
Crazy poison-dart-blowing-monkey-style-kung-fu-grave-yard-dweller attack? Get 'em, Indy!
Rapier duel from the back of two jeeps while speeding through uncharted jungle? Touche!
Tarzan-style monkey vine swinging? Look out!
Carnivorous jungle ants the size of tarantulas? Sweeeeeeet!
Water powered elevator exit? I'm down!
In fact, in this season of Summer-time blockbusters I am even game for the on-purpose bad special effects that keep the four Indy movies looking congruent, the selectively magnetic crystal skulls (they can pull iron based gunpowder particles across an entire warehouse and instantly suck up non-magnetic gold coins, but all of the metal AK-47s remain unaffected?), and I actually liked the "I have a bad feeling about this" Han Solo nod.
However....
Psychic Communists and crystal-boned aliens in a flying saucer? Please show me to the refund line. I'll even give back the 4$ box of Raisinettes I bought.
I am all for alien flicks. I loved "Independence Day", "Men in Black", "War of the Worlds", "Alien Nation" etc., etc., etc. I have seen every episode of Star Trek, Star Trek TNG, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. I am a Star Wars geek. I grew up with Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica, X-files, and War of the Worlds.
But extra-dimensional crystalline space-men in an Indiana Jones movie? Please, please, please! Say it ain't so, Dr. Jones!
I have to give this movie 2 1/2 illegitimate Henry Joneses out of 5.

***SPOILER ALERT***
I thought there were a couple of great set-pieces (especially the motorbike bit), but the film as a whole was seriously poor.
The premise was terrible (typical George Lucas), the acting was stilted (Cate Blanchett was by far the best), the story jumped around far too much, and there were some glaring mistakes - Mayans in Peru? You've got to be kidding.
And the whole "aliens built the pyramids" thing is so old and lame it's untrue.
And some of the liberties taken with geography were very annoying. The Nazca lines are over 12 hours' drive from Cuzco, not next door, and they're on a flat plain, no overlooking mountains. And spread out over hundreds of square miles, not next to each other.
And as for ninja Peruvian grave guardians....words fail me.
Worst film I've seen this year.

I thought the previews were boring, and the reviews aren't the best. I never saw the third Indy movie, so maybe I'll watch that on DVD instead. Sounds like people liked that movie better.

I am going to see it this afternoon. I have to admit I have not been a big fan of the Indi Series. I hadn't seen the first three till a couple of years ago but liked them all and am very looking forward to this one as well.

Just saw it.
It wasn't a non stop thrill ride like the first two films. More like Shia LeBeouf and a bunch of old geezers on Naproxin. Cate Blanchett was very good; of the older actors John Hurt was the one who was totally wasted.
Loved Harrison Ford's Bogart moment...but, seriously, Marian, you're a fiesty, intelligent woman, why do you fall into the arms of a man who left you at the altar 19 years ago and never bothered to look back? And, Indy, considering that she was WORTH IT, why didn't you bother finding her, once the war was over?
Oh yeah, I found out today that my daughters think Shia's totally hot...and they think Harrison is pretty hot for a guy old enough to be their grandfather.

I thought the premise was over-the-top and some of the reasoning beyond ridiculous....but I enjoyed it. I laughed at it, caught the various homages (from Blanchett's Ninotchka look to main story line which seemed to be cribbed from an old Hellboy comic) and I enjoyed it.
If you can suspend your disbelief Cate Blanchett is great and Indy pulls off another movie without looking too geriatric. Lots of action.

My mom, the boys and I just watched it. 3 out of 4 of us thought it was fantastic (although as a nuclear plant employee, my mom thought the refrigerator ride was a joke--yeah, it would have protected him, but he'd have been dead in 24 hours after he got out of it, lol, because he was way too close) But hey, it's a movie, it's not supposed to be that realistic..or it would not have been fun. I really loved it and thought it was a great ride to go on.

I haven't seen this yet but all this talk of aliens and parts being compared to Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Im a little worried. I remember the old Indy game for nintendo 64... The Infernal MAchine I believe it was called. It was an awesome game, typical Indy adventure till you get to the end when it goes all futuristic and stupid. The last level sucked! Youre like swimming through liquid goo and weird futuristic machines and stuff. I hope this isn't like that.

Saw it tonight at the drive-in. I didn't think it was on the same level as my two favorites (Raiders and Last Crusade), but it was worth seeing. I loved the chase scene on the motorcycle and the quicksand scene where Mutt got a snake to pull Indy out. I wasn't all that excited about the alien parts, though. I found the beginning hard to follow, but my friend had brought her niece and nephews, and the youngest talked through the first 1/3 or so of the movie and kept distracting me. I was glad when he finally fell asleep.

I loved the movie!! Glad to see Marion again!! I thought the new 'family' get together in the back of the truck funny with everyone arguing!! It also gave me goosebumps the first part of the movie with the 50's teenagers trying to drag race with the military convoy in the middle of hte desert...then Area 51!! LOL...and yes, I noticed the Ark of hte Covenant in the warehouse!! and thought it was cool taht Indy was part of the Roswell thing!
Wanna see something weird!! that yall saw in the movie on the paintings of the ancient walls?!

I thought it was okay. Could have been a lot worse, could have been a lot better. I agree with what you said, stateofgrace, about Marion. She was feisty and strong in Raiders, I would have thought she would have been a little more hesitant about immediately getting back together with Indy. I would have liked to have seen a little more angst in that situation, rather than them complain for 30 seconds, then are ready to get married. The plot overall was ridiculous, but not in the ridiculous way I come to expect out of an Indiana Jones film. Mostly it was predictable, borrowing moments from the other films, and the moments that weren't predictable were too silly. Such as Tarzan vine swinging, monkeys that decide they hate Russians too, the ant scene. And the truck on the tree scene. And the waterfall scene. And the fridge scene. And the snake scene. And the poor CGI. So...lots of too absurd moments, but there were things that made it worth watching, if not up to the standard set previously by the three films.

My wife and I went to see the movie yesterday. It was very entertaining, and I enjoyed the ride down memory lane with Indy. If I had to compare it the other three I would put it in 3rd place in front of "The Temple of Doom".

Went to see it today and the beginning was a bit slow. I like the chemistry between Shia and Ford (I can't believe that Louis Stevens is all grown up). I just say that this is a movie that needs to be seen in the theater. Karen Allen looks her age but really looks good. The ark scene...'glad they added that. And that part when Indy called Matt 'Jr' - it was like when Indy's Dad called him Jr from the last Crusade. It was a fun movie.

Ok, here's my humble opinion of the leatest Indy film. I want to first say I enjoyed it. Though there was no real substance I took away from it. But, I expected nothing less. It's a fun "popcorn" film.
My biggest complaint is that the film builds up and build up and the ending is just sort of well it's ho-hum.
I'd say it was equal to "Temple of Doom."

I saw it today and didn't really care for it. Of course, I'm operating on 2.5 hours of sleep, so I may be a bit cantankerous. 
I did not like the whole alien theme. The climactic scene w/ the UFO taking off and Indy standing in the foreground was just more suited for Han Solo than Indiana Jones.
I agree w/ a previous post that said it was too over-the-top at times...the fridge, the Tarzan-vine-swinging, the waterfall scene...
At times it felt like a campy, action movie...much like National Treasure. (Maybe that's b/c Nic Cage and Harrison Ford were both looking for the city of gold!) I know Indy movies had that flavor to 'em anyway, but a couple times I felt like I was watching National Treasure.
