I was listening to one of the major networks interviewing Obama this morning.

I have to say I was insulted. This man must think the average voter has 0 intellect. He kept talking his change theme and yet said not one word how he was going to change things. It was pure fluff. He had absolutely nothing to say on how he intends to bring about change.

When the interviewer pressed him on why he refused town hall meetings to discuss more on what he means when he talks about change, (and other things) he turned it around and critisized McCain for wanting the town hall meetings.

Pure fluff and empty words and, frankly, very insulting.

Mr. Obama....! You have been talking, talking, talking about change. But where's the beef? How are you going to change things? I think the American people deserve an answer from you as to how you will specifically bring about change.

Almost all I heard this morning was you bashing the Bush administration and trying to link McCain/Palin to that administration.

But you, Mr Obama for months and months and months have talked about change but not told us how you are going to specifically bring about change.

I would be interested for anyone that visits and posts in this election folder to show me specifically what the man has presented to the American people as to how he will bring about change. What has he done to prove to us that he is an agent of change?

You certainly have a right to express your opinions. I fail to see the point of this thread other than a personal rant?

How about a reason for not responding to the "how do we get these changes" question? Is there a solid plan that has been presented to answer this question? If so, what is it?

I am obliged only to go to none other than the source. If more detail is needed than this, I supposed you can gather more informations from external sources. Although I'm sure neither candidate has gone any further in detail than is required by the average voter.

If he was upfront about the sort of change he has in mind, he'd have even less chance of being elected. He's going to be owned in the debates.

This is a serious mistake on Senator Obama's part. A big thrust of his rhetoric at this point seems to be that Senator McCain doesn't want to talk about the issues. Now all the McCain campaign need do is run ads saying, "We offered, he refused. Who really doesn't want to talk?"

No wonder there are concerns over how he is running his campaign. Nothing like handing your opponent the tools necessary to turn your attacks back on you...

I was flipping through channels on Sat. night, and stumbled across a show doing a spoof of an Obama speech. The answer to every questions was "I promise change and hope, hope and change, that's what I will do." By the end of the spoof, his answer was "I promise change and hope, I promise chope." I think "chope" is my new word of the day.

CherishedbyGod, you certainly make a valid point, and I for one am looking forward to the debates so that both candidates can put forth their postions while facing the same questions.

I was most impressed by McCain at the Saddleback "Debate" and far less than impressed with Obama's wishy washy stumbling and uttering "Aaahhhh" and 'Ummmms" instead of stating an opinion and that the question about abortion was above his pay grade was most telling.

Maybe both will be a little more forthcoming in the future debates, if they have anything to be forthcoming about.

Thanks
RC

So let's have Town Hall meetings then...what's holding talking about the issues with real people? Oh, yeah, Obama doesn't want to talk about real issues. He can't talk about the war because the surge worked...moved on to how do we link McCain to Bush?

Can we talk about the issues?

Exactly. It is almost getting pathetic.

Pure fluff? You expect something different from a politician - they're all fluff - they're all smoke and mirrors.

McCain has been all about having Townhall meetings...It's Obama that doesn't want to get into the details of what his "change"means...

He'd be almost right.

But aside from that - yes, his speeches are light on details, but there is more information available on his web site.

Regarding townhall meetings? Am I the only one that thinks virtually any face-to-face matchup these days is a farce? There isn't adequate time to properly debate the issues in any forum that could even remotely accommodate a tv schedule. It's all a bunch of pandering, soundbytes, and one-upsmanship. I like the Saddleback format better, because at least they can just answer the question and not have to worry so much about snide comments.

I think townhall format would be great as it's face to face and questions from real people. Hard to hide behind a teleprompter in these kinds of formats.

Voters shoulld not have to rely on websites, or other media to know where a canidate stands, especially those who do not have access to a computer.

In my book Obama has been a disappointment. For someone who is said to be an excellent speaker, all I can say is that he knows how to use a lot otf words to say very little.

Great speakers do not always make great presidents.

Great presidents are people who have an understanding of what is really going on and are able to deal with it.

Hmm - since McCain addresses the "issues" so thoroughly, what is his economic plan. Ha, he's like a deer in headlights with that question - "Oh, we're for the people and I'm a straight talker - we're gonna get-er-done".

Interviewer: "How Mr. McCain?

McCain: "I'm not sure, I'm not strong with economics. But we're gonna get-er-done".

Is that what it means to address the "issues"? Just curious?

I'd much rather hear him address it himself without a teleprompter.

Fine...Let's go to the town hall meetings and find out where both of them stand....we will watch both of them address the issues. Why is Obama afraid of that? Why is he avoiding that?

The people who should be insulted are the anti-war zealots who jumped on his bandwagon. He said what, two years ago, that the troops should be removed immediately. That has since changed to sixteen months. It was sixteen months a year ago, a half year ago, a month ago. He keeps moving the date further and further out into the future. If McCain wins, Obama will be insisting on removing the troops in sixteen months after they've already left.

To top it off, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari is telling people that Obama asked the Iraqi's to delay plans for troop withdrawal. Take that pro-Saddam, anti-war zealots.

Vote for Nadar!
