Just curious as to who was married on or near a holiday and why did you pick that date?
For us, we were married on Valentine's day. The funny thing was that as we were deciding when to marry, I mentioned something about never being married on a holiday cause if you do get a divorce, it ruins the holiday the rest of your life....lol
But since we decided to throw "divorce" out of our vocabulary and we have NO intentions of going thru that again, we wound up picking Valentine's day (1) so DH can't forget it and (2) our birthdays were the beginning of February, so everything is in the same month.

My husband and I were married not on a holiday but on his grandfather's birthday. I suggested the date even before I knew it was his grandpa's birthday and my husband thought it was great. His grandfather doesn't recall all that much now as the Parkinson's is taking over, but he does remember that we honored him at our wedding by singing happy birthday to him at the reception.
My parents were married two days before Christmas. I haven't a clue why except that's what they wanted to do.

We got married a few days before Christmas.
We picked it because most of our relatives had kids and it was a good time with them being out of school (several of my family members are farmers, so summer has other issues). Decorations were cheap, a couple of Christmas trees covered in white lights and a ton of poinsettas that were already decorating the church. ;)
It was lovely, and everyone took a mass family reunion ski vacation after seeing us off (both sides of my family are close friends, and my husband's family and my family also get along great, so it was a great time for everyone from across the country to all get together and have fun, hehe). Our wedding is fondly remembered. ;)

The first time I married was near Valentine's Day - no it didn't ruin
the occasion for me... the stores did that by constantly raising the prices
of roses, candy etc. for Valentine's! LOL

We got married the weekend before Thanksgiving. No particular reason expect that was the first date the church had open after we got engaged and we didn't want to wait any longer!

We got married in May, the week before Mother's Day and 2 weeks before my birthday. It's less than ideal, but that's the way it worked out. We tried to pick a date in April in order to avoid proximity to these other occasions, but the church wasn't free, and well, we just didn't want to wait even longer for our wedding. It's inconvenient because if we ever want to take a trip on the weekend closest to our anniversary and it also happens to be Mother's Day, my mom gets all hurt. *Sigh* I'm 35, it's not like I would forget to call or send a card & flowers! No, that's not enough, she wants me to be always be available that weekend to travel to her town and spend the whole weekend with her. It's hard to juggle it all.
Sometimes I worry about how this is all going to pan out if I become a mom, with Mother's Day and our anniversary as well as my own mom's expectations. Sheesh.
Oh, and I wouldn't have chosen for my anniversary and my birthday to be in the same month, although my DH is very good about celebrating each occasion separately.

We married on July first to avoid colliding with other birthdays and anniversaries. It is easy to remember but hard to find a good price on a get away vacation. So if we want to take a trip to celebrate, we do it later in the year.

It was only after that I also realized that the anniversary 14 was also our birthday numbers! His is Feb 1; mine is Feb 4.:)

I wish my brothers would have thought about this.
My middle brother got married in mid August, right before school started, but on the OTHER side of the country, LITERALLY. We are in Indiana and they are in California. It just wasn't going to work for us. as school started here the week after the wedding.
My baby brother went and got married in September. He and his wife wanted a fall wedding with all the rich jewel tones and all. It was really pretty, but since school had already been in session for a month for us for both my kids and my husband, we just couldn't be there.

We got married in August to specifically avoid any holidays/birthdays, and it was (is) a great month for a vacation!

I got married on my birthday to make it "easy" on him--he would only have to remember one "wife" date, not two. Since we were married less than 5 months when he told me to move out, that was probably not a good decision.

We got married on Dec 24th. My birthday is also in December, so I have birthday, anniversary, and Christmas all close together. The only issue is never being able to go away for our anniversary. We seldom give anniversary gifts, but when we do, we often pick something out together for the house that we've been wanting, and it's seperate from any Christmas gifts we may exchange.

We were married January first. In retrospect, it's a really cruddy time for an anniversary getaway and right after Christmas we never have money anyway.  On the positive side, it's a hard date for him to forget.

We were married Easter weekend, since it was the best time for family to get there. My church apparently didn't appreciate it too much, though, since I was gone for Easter. We like it though, and its not like it's always a holiday.

Apparently flying out there wasn't an option? I'm sorry. 
Unfortunately to fly 6 people or even just some of use from Indy to California was a bit out of our budget. Just the flight costs alone, not to mention accommodations while we were there. I did send a nice wedding gift tho. It was a bummer, but that's okay. A couple of years after they got married we were all together for a family reunion in Minnesota. That is where my baby brother announced his engagement.

They should have had it on labor day weekend.
I'm sorry you missed two brothers weddings. How very sad.
My baby brother and I are close. We always have been. But I also don't expect him to change what he and his wife wanted just because it was inconvenient for me. Besides, my sister had her phone on speaker during their vows and I heard it all! I also had phone conversations with the photographer before the wedding and insisted on several different particular photos! I'm kinda picky that way, especially since I was doing their wedding scrapbook as my gift to the couple.
I saw them the following June and presented them with their scrapbook. It was better then the wedding for me because they were able to sit and enjoy it and I got to share in that joy.
And if that's not enough - I missed my eldest brother's wedding too. Only I didn't know he was getting married til it was over! They got married on April 1st (NO fooling!) in a short sweet justice of the peace ceremony) And I was still in the same state as them at the time! But he missed mine too!
All my siblings, except my eldest brother, made it to my wedding, - of course it helped that all except my eldest brother were still living at home and minors and none of them had children yet.
We are a pretty laid back family and we understand that sometimes life doesn't always let us do what we wish we could.
But I'm getting off topic - sorry.

Did you and your husband consider just you going?
Oh well, I'm glad there are no hard feelings and that it worked out for your family. I made it to both of my sister's weddings, and would be heartbroken if they weren't there for mine. I was also a bridesmaids in my older sister's wedding. My younger sister had a small wedding in the hills with no attendants.
Topic? I'd love to get married near Valentine's or Christmas, partly because for years, I wanted my wedding colors to be hunter green and burgundy(no, no news to share, just dreamin' lol).

Used emerald green for our July wedding. The florist had fun trying to find daisies, though. I thought it would have been easy but evidently I just missed the daisy season for our region.

We married Aug 31, just before Labor Day. I don't think we planned it that way because we married in Canada. But we were trying to make it convenient for people to travel.
Now we always get a long weekend for our anniversary!
