Not unlike a lot of babies, my son puts his mouth on everything. I am looking for some natural cleaners that are not harmful to children and that do a good job.
Any tips?

Things like vinegar, sodium carbonate, and baking soda are child friendly. Two companies that have natural cleaners that work are Seventh Generation and Mrs Meyers. I've never used Mrs Meyer's Baby Blossom cleaners, but the lavendar line is excellent. Just remember that just because something is natural doesn't mean it is edible. You will have to research ingredient by ingredient.

You could make your own. I do sometimes. I heard a story about a lady that had an infant and ended up taking him to the ER a lot. She noticed that it was always on cleaning day. She ditched all the commercial/synthetic cleaners and that ended the ER visits. You could use essential oils (which are all natural - make sure the label says it's 100% pure) which also help. Some essential oils have antibacterial properties, insect repellent, astringent, calming, etc. If you make your own glass cleaner, be aware that it may take a few cleanings to get rid of all the streaks due to the wax content of the commercial cleaners. I've also heard you could use a black/white newspaper to wipe instead of paper towels or whatever. I haven't tried the newspaper cuz I don't get the paper.
Sandy Maine has a book about all-natural cleaners. If I remember correctly, it's called "Cleaning Naturally". She's got a lot of great cleaning recipes.

Shoot. I thought you were going crunchy or something 
We use mostly Seventh Generation or Melaluca stuff. I've been using Melaluca for years because of my asthma and even though cleaners aren't an asthma trigger it's just safer now with DD.

The vinegar is attrocious while you are cleaning, but I've found that it doesn't take long for it to dissipate. I even used it as a fabric softener for a while and was shocked that my clothing never ever smelled like vinegar. I finally decided that plain laundry soap was about the same as the soap plus the vinegar, so I'm not recommending that you use it as a fabric softner.

I can't remember the proportion of vinegar/water, but no, it doesn't take long to dissipate. Plus you could add a citrus essential oil or pine essential oil, which will help it clean better and smell better.

I use watered down vinegar for everything! I love the smell of vinegar so it has never bothered me, and the smell does go away right away.

In some circles I am already crunchy, but I'll never be crunchy for crosswalk standards. Publix sells the seventh generation brand. I will do some research. Last night I cleaned with vinegar and DH complained of the smell.
