Hello all
I'm having some thoughts about posting which may or may not be from the flesh or the enemy, but I am going to ask for prayer anyway ...
The thought that is uppermost is that those on these forums who know that I left my husband before due to his abuse but have reconciled may now say "told you so" or some such thing if I say he is being abusive again ...
We recently bought a house with all the stresses that entails. However, we're pretty settled now. But hubby is gradually reverting to treating my teenage daughter with contempt again, is barely welcoming to my daughter with the baby, even though she doesn't live here, and tonight I feel as though I just took an emotional beating. Nothing to do with the girls, they aren't here. The younger one has gone on holiday to her father's.
I know hubby well enough to know that he was already primed up to be in a foul mood as soon as I walked in. He said hello, I said hello back nicely, a couple of times actually, then I went to get changed into warm clothes, as it is winter here. He then became angry that I didn't rush into the kitchen to say hello better. His son was out the back doing some carpentry work for him.
Hubby nearly always talks to me like dirt when this particular son is here. The son wasn't happy about us getting back together, although he is usually very nice to me, and I have the gut feeling that hubby treats me badly in front of the son to prove something, who knows what. I called hubby into the other room at the other end of the house and asked him calmly not to treat me like this in front of his son. He raised his voice and started going on and on and then walked out of the room, being horrible in a loud voice all the way. I don't know what the son must think, but I do know hubby tries to make him think I start these things, which I most definitely did not.
Anyway I backed off completely as I was upset and embarrassed, and now I feel very bruised. My dinner appetite has gone out the window.
It seems all the good counsel and advice have been discarded by hubby. He is not taking off like he used to, so I guess that is good, but nor has he stopped talking to myself and the girls in a shocking and humiliating manner.
I do not believe divorce is the answer. If it is, I need God to show me. But I would rather pray for this abuse to stop. Hubby does not see how awful and irrational he sounds when he speaks to me terribly like this. The safest response for me is to say as little as possible, but it does not stop him continuing and often I will hear him carrying on muttering down the hall and in other rooms - supposedly thinking I can hear, but I can't hear what he is saying clearly and would probably rather not hear.
