My wife is dealing with severe alcoholism. She had a gastric bypass 8 years ago and for the last 5 years it has been really bad. She has had a DUI last year and she works for the government with a very high grade. She is a outstanding worker, wife and friend, but will not let me help her, or try to get help. It is ruining my faith due to anger and not being able to concentrate on things. Please help someone.

Father, we lift up backdraft39's wife to You. Open her eyes and help her to see the harm this is doing both to herself, her husband, her marriage, and to others. Take the desire to drink to excess away and replace it with a burning desire to get to know You better. Be with backdraft39. Strengthen and encourage him. Regardless of the way his wife chooses to go, don't lest this or anything else weaken his faith, but strengthen it Lord, help him to seek You above all else, for strength, for comfort, for courage. Help Father, in every way that You know is best. In Jesus precious name. Amen

I am praying in agreement for your wife, that God will open her eyes to the truth. I pray that He will keep her safe and that He will draw her to Him. I pray that Our Father will give you strength and comfort and continue to guide you on the right path. In Jesus name, Amen. Also, I came across something on a website and it seems appropriate here. Here is the link: For Families of Alcoholics Text as follows: It's devastating watching a loved one struggle with addiction. We try everything we can think of, and nothing seems to work. We blame ourselves for our failings and wonder what we could have done differently, done better. The heartbreak is so great we often lose perspective in life. We blame ourselves for the uncontrollable actions of another. We do it out of love, but our misguided love rarely serves to better the situation, and often our frantic attempts at control only seem to make things worse. We have, out of love, forgotten God's love. We try to accomplish what only He can do, and we live away from His grace. There is nothing easy about addiction, and the pains of addiction always ripple through the family. Understand what you can do and do all that you can, but pray also for guidance on what you cannot do, and accept that only Christ can truly lead a loved one to salvation. You don’t have to sit around impotent…you can pray! Pray for guidance and strength and let God's grace and love flow through. Do what you can! Run an intervention, get educated, don’t enable…and then leave the rest up to God. Trust in Him. He has not forsaken or forgotten. Pray. You can do a lot, but only Christ can truly heal. Pray for God's grace and wisdom, pray for an acceptance of your limits and pray that your loved one will feel God's love and get better.

It is ruining my faith due to anger and not being able to concentrate on things. Please help someone. Dear Father, please look down with mercy upon backdraft39's wife. Please help her to over-come her alcoholism so that she can stop hurting herself and her husband. If it is your will, I ask that you show her what is happening to her life, as well as the damage that she is doing to herself, her husband, and all those around her. Please, God, show her what she stands to lose, including her friends, her marriage, her job, and even her life if she doesn't seek help for her alcoholism. Please give her a gentle revelation of some sort that will push her towards getting help for her addiction to alcohol. Please have mercy upon her, Lord. She is sick, and she needs help. I ask that you rise up people in her life like her husband, backdraft39, who will serve as support and encouragement to help point her towards seeking counseling and treatment for her acloholism. Lord, as I stated, backdraft39's wife is sick. You, however, are faithful and good to all those who follow you. Please stand beside backdraft39's wife as she struggles with this horrible illness. Please end her cravings for alcohol, and help cure her of her addiction to alcohol. When Christ was upon this Earth, you healed all manners of people who were ill through Him. Please do so with this woman before it is too late for her. I pray this in the name of your Faithful Servant, Our Divine Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. Also, God, please be with backdraft39. Bless him for his faithfulness to his wife, despite her illness. Restore his spirit for the strain he has been under. Help him to be able to concentrate on other things in his life without having to worry about his wife all the time. Remove the spirit of anger that is him towards her, and replace it with a spirit of compassion and strong desire to help his spouce over-come this problem with alcohol. Let him stand with you as a source of support for his wife so that she might see the good in him and seek treatment for herself. Most of all, God, please be with both of them during this trying time. Give them both support and help them through their issues with this woman's alcoholism. Be a pillar that they can lean on when the times get difficult for either or both of them, and let this episode strengthen their love for one another, and may they both come to glorify you through this love and their marriage to one another. I pray this, as well, with humility and confidence, in the name of Our One True Savior, Jesus Christ, the King of Kings. Amen.
