The church service started today (well by the time we got there!) with a testimony I thought I would share here; perhaps someone here needs this encouragement just now or perhaps it will encourage us to pray for the salvation of others. The pianist tonight stood up to tell about a friend of theirs who went with his wife to the ER this week-- I don't recall why but I don't think it was anything too serious. I also don't recall his name but I'll call him Jim. While Jim and his wife were waiting the man in the next "cubicle" behind the curtain next to them had a doctor come in and tell the man plainly that he was going to die. (I certainly wouldn't have told him that but as it turns out it was good he did.) They also overheard the man expressing unbelief of this to his sister after the doctor left. Jim became alarmed thinking the man right next to him was going to die and he might not know the Lord so he prayed for an opportunity to share his faith. After a while everything got quiet and everyone left-- and the man's sister inadvertently opened the curtain a little when she went out so he could now see the man face to face. Jim said to the man (who looked pretty bad) 'I heard the doctor say you were going to die?' He said 'yeah that is what he said'. He asked 'do you know Jesus personally?' and the man said 'no'. He asked 'would you like to know Jesus and to go to heaven?' and he said yes but that he didn't know how to pray. So Jim said 'I'll just pray and you pray after me'. The man prayed with him to accept Christ and a big smile was on his face as they finished. Then immediately a bunch of doctors came trooping back in-- and ten minutes later the man was dead. Praise God he sent someone to talk with him! The reason I am sharing this is mostly because of what the woman sharing this said next. Her thought was that perhaps someone had prayed for this man for years and yearsbut as far as they all knew he had died never coming to know the Lord. No one witnessed this after all but God and the two men-- he'd never even learned his name. So if someone is reading this who is concerned about a loved one who has died and their salvation remember God can send someone at any time unbeknown to us--- and come to think of it I also had the opportunity with a couple of similar situations to talk with people years ago before they died about Christ including my grandmother. She couldn't talk at that point but I've always believed that she prayed with me because afterwards she shed a tear. God is faithful; we need to keep praying through even though we might never know the results this side of heaven. Hope this story has blessed you as much as it did me.

Father, Thank you for telling is that you gave your Son, Jesus Christ, to save the world. Thank you for informing us of your unconditional love for us all. Thank you that we can be at peace regarding loved ones whom we might think of as being lost, but whom you in your amazing grace have drawn to you without our knowledge. Thank you for better than we are capable to understanding. In Jesus' name we prise you. Amen. John 3:16-17 (New International Version) 16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

So often there are complaints about having to share a room in a hospital with someone- and all their family and the comings and goings. While it sounds like snooping, and also a terrible breach of doctor-patient confidentiality on the doctor's part, what a wonderful way to be ready to testify and introduce others to Christ at a time where it's never too late. This is all the more reason to seek to get to know 'the man behind the curtain' on the other side of the room. Thanks for sharing this, Casey. OneJohn410
