Hi, I was perusing The Atlantic Monthly, September 2008, Primary Sources, and they had a brief on how mental illness is and has been becoming more prevalent apparently by POWs at Guatomino Bay, forgive spelling.. One cited to have developed schizophrenia, as other than shouting through the cracks in the cell doors at each other, guards are their sole means of any communication. I agree with being "punished" for crimes and offenses but fear this type of treatment surely flies in the face of Jesus' admonition to care for the prisoner in their distress, Matthew 7. Does the National Assoc of Evangelicals or such like-minded organizations have a lobby that support basic human rites for POWs? I find this alomost sickening.. (Drussell52)

I honestly don't believe that there are any PoW's in Gitmo. I don't like Gitmo, I honestly hate it. However I don't believe that any of the men who have gone through there were ever PoW's and deserve no such designation or treatment reserved for lawful Combatants who willfully lay down there arms or become lawfully captured.

As I said I do disagree with Gitmo and it is because after going through many of the records that were released of who got sent there not all of them were a major threat to the US. They aren't however PoW's.

RLJ, thanks for the correction, reading lead to assumption as POW status. Nonetheless, the question still remains, NAE or any Christian lobby out there calling for drastic reform of such conditions, sure hope so..
Hmm, not sure if what I just wrote took or not. Anyhow, RLW thanks for the correction that the inmates aren't POWs, I assumed. Nevertheless, the description sure makes the need for reform quite apparent to this reader. And post modernity was suppose to make life better? Hmmm. Can't agree.
