Ok I have two questions.........

In my understanding there was once a system in which users could rate the posts they like and that it has been disabled. Well I am told that the five stars that have appeared in the "ratings" column on a thread I started is a rating. If that feature is no longer allowed, how is it that someone was able to give me a rating. I don't mind it I'm just wondering.

Also what does the yellow circle with the white dot in the middle that I see next to the title of some threads in the forums represent?

Thirdly, what is the purpose of this list that appears at the bottom of the page:

Post New Thread
Reply to Message
Post New Poll
Submit Vote
Delete My Own Post
Delete My Own Thread
Rate Posts

Every time I click on the icon next to them nothing happens.

The rating feature has NOT been disabled. Only the ability to view your point total has.

I believe the yellow circle means there are new posts since your last visit, and clicking it will take you to the oldest post that has been made since your last visit.

I don't know about the last one. I think the ones with checkmarks are what you are allowed to do in that forum, but I'm not certain.

I believe the yellow circle means there has been a post in that thread in the last 24 hours. If the title of the thread is in bold print, that means there has been a post there since your last visit to the forums. You get to the first "new" post by clicking on the little green arrow. But if you are following a particular thread and click on the first new post, you might scroll up a bit to see if there are any you missed since the last time, because if, say, you clicked on a thread in "Faith" forums and read it, and then clicked and read on other forums, if there were new messages in the Faith forums while you were in the other forums, they would all be marked as read when you logged off. That's one of the known bugs in the system.

That list at the bottom doesn't have active links, it is just a list of what can and can't be done in each of the forums. I think in every forum there is a check mark that you can't delete your own thread. But in some you can delete your individual posts; in some you can rate and in some you can't; in some, like this one, you can't start a poll but in some you can.
