Just wondering, can a pastor be remarried and still take a role of a pastor?

The wife left the pastor to go with another man. He tried to work it out but was not able to.

Yes.

I know two pastors who are in second marriages, and they have a compassion that the pastors who have only been married once and are in *perfect* marriages just cannot have. Not a slam on those who have only been married once ... just a comment that sometimes we are called to walk in shoes we would not have chosen to walk in.

I also know pastors who have been married once, and are still married and very much in love with their wives after many many years. They too bring something very special to the flock they shepherd.

it's really up to the church and if part of a big denomination there are likely guidelines already in place. many still allow it if divorce happened prior to conversion or as long as they were the innocent party as defined by adultery (Matthew 19:9) or abandonment by an unbeliever (Corinthians 7:10-15).

this thread however will likely be locked and you will be told to try to figure it out by going to the one stop remarriage thread. good luck with that though.
